Dunno if its a re-post, kick my backside if it is....

Had a bit of a browse around the WWW and found this little gizmo. Wonder if it will be avail in NZ?

I played with a version for a cage back in USA. Useless piece of junk because of non-replaceable eprommed maps and weak reception. I use this one (http://www.garmin.com/products/etrexLegendc/) with a handlebar mount and it hasn't disappointed me so far... Easy to operate in gloves too (5 oversized buttons on sides really far one from another and a joystick).

I've just bought a Garmin Quest. It's waterproof, comes with an NZ map but will take others. Has a dedicated bike mount (extra cost). Built in antenna. It has an output for a helmet speaker. It has a trip computer function with speed, top speed, overall average, moving average and trip times. A great little toy.

There is also this one (http://www.tomtom.com/products/product.php?ID=146&Language=8&TT=u65pgsrobl16v7bn5phq8ub9k5), which I think would be great.
They arent available in NZ yet, but one day I am sure they will be.

Otherwise my Etrex Legend is great for basic navigation

I'd stay with Garmin. AFAIK they are the only one with the routable NZ map (CityNav NZ). I use 2 of their products (StreetPilotIII for the cage and Legend C for the my gas- and human-powered bikes) and they work great (although Legend C lacks voice prompts, a feature which I sorely miss).
