One wonders how many undiscovered people there are out there. This is as good as, if not better than the average current artist. Luckily we have people like K'Lee here in NZ to keep entertained...

Not my kind of music.. but you are right about the undeveloped talent in NZ....it is still pretty hard to get to the point where you can be recognised here. Guys like Mike Chunn are doing a great job with young musos and there is still the good ole Rockquest

She does have an absolutely beautiful voice, and a great singing abilities... However unfortunately, it's not the singing ability and the voice that makes a "famous singer" these days, if you haven't noticed most of the "artist" that is well known are..... completely useless and their voice is painful to hear not to mention the kind of things they sing.....

I'm afraid the "art" has been taken out of music industry a long time ago... even so, it's great to hear a proper musician's voice now and then again...

Yes you are right, she does have a great voice, but it reminded me of one of New Zealands treasures, that has been discovered. And these guys are so much better IMHO.
Please have a listen and remember our home grown stuff is world class.
En Zuds best IMHO (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOenp3MUnh0)

Can't fault you there!
hXc is studying "Crowded House" for NCEA level 1 Music...it's great to see that good Kiwi music is part of the curriculum

Just to reiterate, Terra is from LA in the US. I love what the internet has let people do, by being a very active member of 2 or 3 big blog/video type sites (myspace.com, youtube.com, etc...), she has a rather big following now, and has just released her first CD (a very raw, accoustic first recording of about 10 or 12 songs). I ordered a copy yesterday, and I'm going to order another one, which I'll give away on here (pull names out a "hat" type thing). I don't know why, but I really think there might be potential there, given enough opportunity.

On a completely unrelated (as in no talent) matter, NZ Idol has been an F*ing joke. The only episode (which I saw in passing) that had people with some potential, was last nights one, filmed in Wellington. ALL the rest that I've seen, the top 10 (or however many) singers from each area, are paraded around like "idols" while they are all rather tone deaf average Joe's. What is even worse, is the 3 judges peanut gallery comments. I don't even know who 2 of them are, and Frankie doesn't really have any moral ground critiquing the contestents either. The judges sit there and act like they are the equivalent of their US Idol counterparts. Hahahahaha, equals? Give me a f*ing break. I'd love to see Simon Cowel judge a series of NZ "Idol".

NZ needs to pull its head out its arse, and hack the chip off it's shoulder, and realise that just because something or someone is from NZ, doesn't make it or them automatically a bloody phenomenon. I mean ffs, it's embarassing to watch, and even more embarrasing for the country.

However, where credit is due, I agree - support artists as much as you can, I realise there is not enough support to get the deserved recognition:rockon:

Well said StoneChucker. I couldn't agree more.

Rats! I'm back down to dial-up again! But, yeah, she's got a nice voice and I agree with the comments about NZ Idol, in general, it is embarrassing a times and I wonder at the contestants lack of shame!

Ah, now where's another Laura Brannigan...?

Too right, unfortunately I was subjected to some just now. I hear better singing in my shower. And if I hear one more fucking gospel singer wannabe I'm going to shoot myself.

I'd give Rob Halford a run for his money when somebody turns on the hot tap in the kitchen.

They have also claimed Russel Crowe as one of their own.
I think this might be a fair trade off....

Yep, and pavlova and Phar Lap. If you lived in a country that was settled by criminals wouldn't you want to claim some of the good stuff from your neighbour too....

He he, I know the feeling. I'm actually the best vocalist in the country, as long as I'm in my car, alone, and with my iPod supplying the canvas for my paint

Luckily we have people like K'Lee here in NZ to keep entertained...:sick:Yes she has a lovely voice, and after checking her profile I'd say that she won't go "undiscovered" for long Dave, she's getting her music out there so someone is bound to recognise her talents sooner or later and offer her a huge career launch, if that's what she wants. All up to her really!

Like someone on there said. Amy Lee from Evanescence.

Got the voice, and fucking hot too.

I guess if you want something local check out the old Tadpole stuff. Renee was quite a good singer, I remember my mum and most of my friends parents liking their music because of her voice.

the sound quality is crap. Seen them live twice, but the band in its current state is a different setup and not so good anymore.

I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but this artist was able to put a CD together from all the support she received on YouTube, MySpace and wherever else she advertised herself, and it was released recently. I bought a copy, and decided shortly after to buy another one and give it away on here:woohoo: The reason for this is, I thought it would be a nice way of spreading the news just that little bit more, so to speak...

I really wanted to post a new thread so as to make sure you all who have posted in this thread, had the chance to put your hand up if you wanted the CD (*EDIT - I cheated and PM'd a few folks from this thread*). However, I thought that that would make alot of people ask for it, who only wanted something because it was free and not because they liked the artist. This album is not a super polished major label production, it was however recorded in a studio by a producer and sounds damn good, and close to the level you'd expect from a label. The tracks were recorded a couple of times and the best take was included. I was very surprised by the packaging of the CD, it came exactly like I would expect a top label's copy to be released. It's a beautiful all round album that fans will like:love:

So, if you honestly liked the artist, and preferrably if you actually showed some interest in it (e.g. by watching her other videos), please reply here or PM. As always, I will use my usual giveaway rule of first come, first served (as determined by the time stamp on posts or PM's, both are fair and equal).

My only requests?
1) Only reply if you want it
2) What is the name of the album, and name 3 tracks off the album:rockon:

Dave.

Hmmm I've been thinking about purchasing one myself. (the quality of some of the online recordings make you want to scratch your brain out.... )

Thought I"d give others a chance to reply but since they haven't...

album is: virtually
and tracks are:

1. say it's possible
2. the vicodin song
3. i'm happy
........

As I said I've been thinking about purchasing one so if you find another to give the cd to I don't mind but if no one else shows interest... THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
