Deano
That was bloody fantastic and sooo much fun. It was great not having that niggly feeling about biffing the road bike down the track.
We did the test day on the Friday, cause I wanted a chance to get to know the bike a bit, and see that it wouldn't blow up.
Qualifying - I did a 1.23.8 in Post Classic Jnr, which qualified me 9th on the grid (including Snr bikes).
Fizzerman was well motivated to pull his finger out after my qualifying time for F3 was quicker than his.
Post Classic Race 1 - 6 laps.
Got a good start and was amazed that I was being held up into turn 1, but I guess those Snr bikes take a bit more to slow down than the little CBR400.
I tucked in behind Paul Martindale on his CBR400 and stuck with him for a couple of laps - great stuff, but then he gradually pulled away from me.
Red flag came out due to a crash in the middle straight (might have been an engine seizure ?), so it was restarted for 4 laps.
I got a good start but was baulked through coke and splash which held me back a bit. It sure feels different charging round the outside of other bikes, but its either that or get held up.
Ended up 4th.
F3 - 6 laps
There were heaps more bikes which was more fun as more racers to dice with.
I got a good start and later in the race ended up behind another CBR400 - it was pretty close and I didn't really gain on him until the white flag - must have got the red mist thinking only one lap to reel him in. Tagged onto him coming out of Higgins onto the back straight and managed to slipstream him down the back straight - couldn't believe how quickly I gained on him. Held off the brakes going into the sweeper until after he did, so managed to get ahead before the finish - I was stoked.
Finished 12th after qualifying 14th so was happy with that. My times were coming down pretty consistently and my best was a 121.43.
Post Classic Jnr - Race 2 - 12 laps.
Got another good start (those traffic light sprints must have helped).
I got ahead of Paul on the CBR400 and held him off for two laps but he got past in the hairpin. Things were going well until I hit a false neutral at the hairpin and Barry New went up the inside. I thought he was gone but managed to stick with him and repass, only to hit false neutral at hairpin again and he went back up the inside...again. Surprisingly I got back past him and managed to hold him off.
Finished 3rd. Absolutely stoked with that. My best lap time was on par with Jarod Wintle and Paul Martindale, who are sitting 1st and 2nd overall in the points. If I can stop hitting false neutrals and be a bit more consistent I think I might be a contender.
Will be replacing the rings and valve stems seals before any more racing though and hopefully before the next meeting. - not good having a bike that smokes more than the 2 strokes haha.
And now I shall hand over to Fizzerman (we're all here having a beer)

Went to the test day on Friday, and, after playing with my bikes suspension for the last month, was so confident, that I hardly rode my bike, instead I had a play on both Deano and Mikey's bike.
COME ON RICHARD!!! Big mistake.
Come Qualifying on the day, (post classic snr), I was less than a second quicker than Deano, FUCK FUCK FUCK, then he went out F3 and was faster!
First race I was faster than his qualify time, and finished 4th, (I think). Still exceptionally dissapointed with my times. Fastest was 1.22.something.
Second race, I knew Deano was gonna give me grief, and sure enough he came past me on the first lap, pulled finger outta higgins and got away from him on the back straight. Ran a few consistant 21's and caught up with a well worked Z1000, got held up a bit and let Jarrod Wintel catch us both, time to sort it out, somehow dropped a second off my best lap for 4 consecutive laps and rode away from them both.
Finished in 4th with clear track ahead and behind.
All in all, wasn't having too much fun till the 2nd race, found my groove, and am now doing same lap times as Paul Wooton, so with luck, may be looking at a podium finish next month.
Fizzer out.

Deano again......
It has to be said that Mikey was winning when he binned. Any faster and he will be kicked out of Clubmans soon.
-------------------------
Great to see the Welly Crew there in attendance - Skelstar, Uncle B, Velox, Flame, Jimbo (special thanks to the Team Photographer), Mrs Jimbo and Mrs Deano (thanks for lunch and video footage) and Mrs Fizzerman....I bet I've forgotten someone...apologies....
Thanks heaps to NickO for the replacement starter cover, even though Mikey wasn't allowed back out.
Thanks to Sugilite for the encouragement - it means a hell of a lot coming from an immensely fast and experienced racer.
Last of all, thanks to all our sponsors.......oh, erm - well with the days results we're all just waiting for the phone to ring......
