Yes indeed after months na years of procrastination I have finally got broadbean at home and to make it all the sweeter I went and got a wireless modem, and a Airport card for the laptop.

So now I can be on KB and spout shit and be on the toilet and spout shit...:gob:

Signed up with telecom, 'cus they had the dial-up and I wanted the most straight forward change over. Picked up the 10Gig/month package - will change when I see what my useage is, although I suspect it will go up now, particularly when I get onto some of those music sites - back catalogue of RUSH here we go :gob:

Signed up with telecom,

Mmm.
I have been wondering about the Clear PDQ plan, but not interested in the details like having the land line and having to keep up a minimum amount of toll calls each month.

How could you go with telecon? Do you enjoy being sodomised?
After hearing this I'm changing motels in October.

I hope you all have security on your wireless connections. If not then one day you'll find some pervert in a tan ford mondeo has been sitting outside your house using your free connection to download videos of the olsen twins having a jelly bath with a chimpanzee.....

You got a link for that?....just wondering.

Yeah, a WEP key is good. I usually turn the SSID broadcast to 'off' too, just so no-one actually knows that theres a net there to exploit.

Sounds interesting. So if I wanted to add wireless off my TelstraClear big pipe, what would I need to do, both to my modem and to the laptop?

First off, is your laptop wireless? If not you will have to buy a wireless card. You can add a wireless router to your exisiting ADSL router but it may be better to buy a combined wireless / ADSL router. They're cheap enough.

Nice one! Though it's all good until Garry Glitter decides to do drive by and then you get a visit from the coppas the next day arresting you for child porn.....

I'm not sure of the legalities, but I'd be a bit cautious about letting people have free access to my internet account.....

Is there a tan ford mondeo parked outside your house? :innocent:

My mobile phone alerts me when it detects a wireless network in the vicinity.....

And you'd be surprised how many geeks drive around with laptops looking for such signals.

If you're putting wirelss in then you should secure it.

No I got 64bit WEP encryption, (was actually the hardest part of the set up procedure as it turned out)

There is some room for confusion here, when I say wireless.

All I have is a local wireless connection between the lappy and broadband modem, its basically the same as a broadband connection but with no wire connecting the computer to the modem.

If you can't get broadband - you won't be able to get this, because it still uses your phone line.

However you might be able to get a general Wireless connection through someone like WOOSH, which is truly wireless and beamed into your house or where ever, although I'm not sure what the coverage is like in rural areas?

Have a look on woosh website for starters, hope that helps a bit.
