Hi all.
I've just found out when ringing around for prices for bits on my bike, that Boyles in Adelaide Road, Wellington, offer a fork straightening service.
The guy I spoke to says they have both a frame straightening jig and a fork press.
And they say they can straighten the forks without disassembly :shit:
Does anyone have any experience with Boyles and this service?

I've had no experience with Boyles but I have had a few sets of forks straightened. If there is a crease in the fork leg it cannot be properly straightened.

Had some straightened in ChCh years ago, but certainly had no creases in them. If they are just slightly kinked straightening works well but if they are too far gone you have to watch they don't crack like you do with any badly bent steel. I'm hoping yours a just kinked a little bit.

That's what I thought. Had a little trip round to WMC at lunchtime to check my baby out.
Doesn't look too bad at all today.
No creases in the fork tubes as far as I can see.
However, I'll rip them out tonight and make real sure.
Yeeha!!!! :2thumbsup

Most forks will restraighten just by underdoing the triple clamps and then they will ping back straight.....
Seriously tho - I know many people who are almost on a waiting list to get their bike serviced at Boyles - they are apparently pretty good. If you are going to take the forks out - consider re-springing them for your weight etc whilst they are off the bike - well worth it from the handling perspective - and reasonably priced considering you will already be disassembling the front end.

ive only worked with smythe and yeates in cambridge, bit of a hike from wellington (and auckland) but they took the time to explain what they do and how they would fix my broken bike (vespa PX). It was previously in a shop for 6mths and had NO work done, these guys got it, and had it fixed in 2 days, they were waiting for me to pick it up!!!
