New to riding that is. Actually I'm quite old (30)
So good to "meet" you all. What a fantastic resource this forum is for people like me who don't have any experience at motorcycles at all.
I look forward to reading much of the "how-tos" and "keeping safe" type stuff. I figure you can never have too much advice. At least at my stage! It will be great to have such a local and enthusiastic community to ride and share ideas, stories with.
Cheers, Hope to see some of you out on the road!
Now, what bike to buy... hmmm :)

30 ... quite old? pffft. You're just a bloody kid. Young enough to be the son of a lot of us here ... and even the grandson of a few.
Welcome anyway young'un ... and keep safe out there.

Well you're certainly living in a good area to learn to ride a motorcycle Searchin', many of us often ride those roads through Hunua, usually on our way to the Coromandel GP lol!
Welcome to KiwiBiker, glad you found us. How did you find us btw? I think this website is most definately one of the, if not the best place in NZ to learn about motorcycling, and there is much to offer to a learner rider like yourself...just make sure you keep them threads & posts a coming! Oh, and getting a bike and then riding it also helps heaps!! :Punk:

Yeah, the roads around here are pretty good, although people tend to drive their cars a bit maniacaly around here. My wife (who rides horses) gets frustrated with how reckless and -dare I say it - "careless" drivers can be.
I was pointed out this website by Chris at Mt Eden motorcycles when I was asking after the reputation of the Hyosung engines, given that they are a relatively new player.
He told me the address and basically said, "If there is critique to be had; it'll be found here."
Speaking of Kawasaki, anyone got any comment to make on the new one comming out in a couple of weeks?

Double post action - yeah!
Hey Scorpygirl,
Thanks for the welcome!
I was looking into the Virago as a starter - I quite like the cruser style - but am thinking twice now that I hear it only has a 9ltr tank... what sort of range can you get? - If you don't mind me asking.
