Urgently needed an ignition system for an mb100 motor. Supposed to be racing at battle of the buckets but am having trouble with a small electrical problem read no spark. :gob: :shit:

Stator plate is giving a voltage on the sorce winding and also pulse coil. Voltage at the ignition coil is only about 1 vault. Is it likely to be the stator? Have tested the ignition coil and seems to check out o.k. cdi is from a supposedly going bike.

would be keen to chat with anyone that may be able to help sort or is willing to part with a suitable ignition system.

Have paid up my place in ajs van and would hate to miss a trip to ruapuna.

cheers

On the off-chance, call Peter Glidden Honda in Te Awamutu. 07-871 7317. It's been a while since I've used them but they used to keep a veritable goldmine of used parts for all sorts of makes and models.

test the output of your hi-speed windings under the flywheel that go to the cdi unit they should be putting out about 150 volts. ok? then test the output of the picup next to the flywheel should be putting out a few volts 3-5 or so. ok? the the cdi unit is shagged i hope this helps :)

thanks for the info. Well the source coil is putting out well below 150ish vaults so Im assuming this maybe the problem.

Anyone got a stator?

Look steve I have a ignition system that will bolt on to a mb100, shit I even have a points set up off a H100 that will do the job if need be. So if you haven't sorted it out before B.O.B don't let that stop you coming down. We will try to sort you out and if that dosn't do it there's all ways the slut!

Ive heard about the slut. Need to get me hands on an ignition before coming down as the engine is a new build, carb needs jetting and there will be other issues that need ironing out.

cheers

Hey DP, do you know if MB50 ignition is the same? I can send Steve that stuff off that MB50 bottom end if its compatable?

They are more or less interchangble, I think even the plugs are the same.:Punk:
Maybe F5 would know for shore?

MB50 is the go as a whole system ie CDI & stator. I seem to remember that the, no hold on yeah you couldn't swap the flywheel between the two as the pick up point was different, but either way it should be fine with either cdi.

I was running an MB50 setup as my H had points originally. then I went to CR80 as one showed up. Std is ok but lighter CR one is better, also MB one started to eat plugs every meeting or two as the compression ratio went up, but I was running cheap B8HS so wasn't a drama, just had to keep it in mind to change every so often when the hi end misfire croped up.

It is a problem with MB ignitions where they run perfectly fine at one meeting and won't start at the next. The stator coils develop a problem which is only cured by rewinding. I think I have a box round somewhere with a couple of spare sets including one brand new one. If i get a chance I'll have a look.

The bike is now running:rockon: I have fitted an ignition from a kx80. still need to fine tune the timing and jetting but should be all go for the BOB's

Excellent! See you at Wellington wharf.

Why? Are yoy trying to earn some petrol money for the trip? Make sure those sailors pay you first, I've heard they welch. You might want to consider a more comfortable seat, it is a long race.
