View Full Version : ER6n mirrors?

Well this is week 2 of the ER6, and I'm really enjoying it with the bike loosening up nicely - just need to get some slightly warmer gloves to stop my fingers from going numb but apart from that all is well with the world  - The only thing that is really bugging me are my mirrors - despite mucho messing about I can still only see arm/shoulder in them (guess the my big new jacket doesn't help either), and it seems worse than some bikes I've ridden like the Hornet.
It does make me do a really good shoulder check everytime I move, but I was wondering can you get decent aftermarket mirrors/extenders??

To quote SARGE when I told him I thought the mirrors on the new GSXR750K6 where shite after a test ride recently;
"Dude, the fights in front of you"
And he has a point
Anyways even if you could see anything in them, the vibes off a parallel twin would reduce it all to a blur

Don't know about mirror extenders, views of your shoulder seem to be par for the course on most modern bikes... but get some heated grips - only $120 or so and 20 mins to fit.
After .....35.years of frozen hands fitted some last month and what a difference. And for those who think Im a woos - stiff shit - I got warm hands and you havent!!!

If you know an engineer you should be able to get something made and then powdercoated. A ZRX1200 forum I used to subscribe to had a guy in the States who made mirror extenders for those. Basically a flat plate with a hole at one end to hold a bolt that goes into the existing mirror hole, and then a threaded hole at the other to take the mirror. It had a couple of lugs to stop the plate twisting, but pretty basic and effective.

Thanks for the replies - managed to get some wideners ordered from a place in the US called twistedthrottle.com, so hopefully they'll come soon

Let me know how they go Matt, because my mirrors suck too.

A mirror-extending tip from an FJR owners' forum is to replace the stock mirrors with those off an FZ1. Same base plate. Brilliant!

Are you sure it's not back-pressure from the fairing?

Bob that does most of the news forum here has got one of the faired ER6`s and he wasn`t impressed with the mirrors for the same reason. He actually contacted the U.K. importers about it,their reply was something along the lines of "well nobody else has complained",well that`s alright then is it? Easy enough to sort out but a bit more interest towards someone who`s just paid good money for one of their bikes would have been nice, prohbably would have got some if they`d known he does a bit of bike journo work.Mirrors might not be a big deal to some in N.Z. but here with faster moving traffic and the average car driver i.q. apparently barely reaching double figures they`re essential.

Gidday,
Kawasaki have an extension kit available - it moves the mirrors out by 40 mm which should solve the problem...
Part # is 119-MIS-0002
About $85.00 retail
Cheers
Have a good one

Fitted the mirror extenders at the weekend - quality bits of kit (Motech) and they make a MASSIVE difference, really worth the cash (was about NZ$90) and I can now see something else other than my elbow! Feels alot safer too.

Couple of pics of the Motech mirror extenders - highly recommended!
Just waiting for the "tall seat" option to arrive, and then I'll have a proper tallies bike!
