Do you know if this has been modified to semi only? I'm pretty sure this guy is not allowed a fully auto weapon.

Pick is too small for me to actually have a good look. Looks like a bushmaster or a modified CAR15.
Could even be one of the M16 replica BB guns you see on trademe
If he is armed response, I believe they are allowed fully auto, I could be wrong though.

Looking at that picture through my best $2 Shop glasses it looks like the standard Police Bushmaster, unlikely to be a full auto version if uniformed Police have it (or any Police for that matter).

Not that they ever told me.
With Bushmasters, shotguns, bolt action scoped rifles etc they don't need full autos - but if they did it would be an MP5:msn-wink:

yeah I knew that you muppets!!
Thats why I suggest the Counter Terrorist Group might be ones able to use auto weapons, since they are generally recruited from within the defence force......
and PITA aint a TLA!

There is a black Ford Explorer I have seen with about 4 guys in full armour, they looked like they were carrying M4.
Scary.

Its a bushmaster. And cops can carry fully auto weapons. They have colts and MP5s as part of their arsenal. And good on em I say.

I thought there bushmasters did semi and 3 shot burst. Full auto is only good if you have to really celebrate new years.

ITs fine with a decent heavy barrel so more than the first three or four are actually heading down range towards the target instead of towards the moon!

D50, at what range do you practise with the M4?

The new body armour we have is far quicker to put on and supposed to be able to stop a 7.62mm round. That's an AK-47. And probably other things too. Don't test that.

Well, as long as it stops thats and the 5.56, Im happy. Still cumbersome fucken pain in the arse hot shit if its the same gear Im thinking of.

Oh and you have to forward assist the bushmaster after you chamber a round, if you forget the weapon can jam.
A legacy from Viet Nam when the wrong powder caused excessive fouling and gunge build up which caused the rounds to not chamber properly.

Gotta love iron sights :p :eek5:
Not a bad range to use those M4's. Considering the most use they will get is between 25 to 100m I shouldnt be too worried. Glad they aren't auto in case in the heat of the moment, mr plod flicks the catch too far and instead of 3rds hitting the target you get umptten rounds hitting everywhere.
Steyrs were ok, but they needed to be cleaned religiously if they were to be reliable. Much like the M16 :p. Why cant our govt make life easier by just using ak47's? At least when you run out of rounds, they make a more useful club compared to the Steyr

ak47's fire a tumbling bullet and are a bit of a war axe. I dont think we would go for a rifle that has 7.62mm as well
Thats true, I suppose it comes down to individual preference. I would prefer a hard hitting 7.62 to a 5.56. At least the AK is a sturdy thing

Austrian Steyrs can fire all day without probs ADF steyrs have crap machining and require high maintenance.

Nah it aint scummy. Its a good drill practise born from Pommy LA85 drills to ensure that the weapon fires 1st time when Paddy is coming at ya. Forward assist is always a good thing as that last sound you want to hear should no be "click"

I would be more afraid of the guys in big Nissan Patrols......you know who I mean dont ya Sniper
AKs fire a tumbling round? (cant confirm that on the net so calling bullshit) And no tumbling round would be "effective" out to 300m!!
The AK-47 and AKM, with the 7.62 × 39 mm cartridge, have a maximum effective range of around 300 meter
Suppose there is no point in keeping the accuracy up as most rounds from them go high
And like the old 9mm vs 45 hand gun debate some people dont like the lack of stopping power behind a 5.56 compared to the bigger round

The tumbling in the 7.62 X 39 projectile happens AFTER impact, they destabilise easily on impact.
And what do you mean 'go high'? - using my bayonet as a mono-pod I know I could hit you in excess of 400m away. (and anywhere inbetween)

I see.
In single shot yes but look at most poorly trained people and they hold the trigger in for a few and end up shooting seagulls instead of the target infront of them as the barrel climbs
