"Burning lungs on a cold night is marginally better than Margaret Thetcher naked on a cold night.
Thanks to Big Dog for his roadside assistance last night."
I did the English translation, now you try to figure the rest out.

Full storyis ...
The bike I was ridinghome from work lastnight diedon me ...
bike =>:kick:<=wari
Thanks tothe kind motorisks who grudginly allowed me to cut across two lanes to the relitive safety ofthe emergincy lane ... :eyepoke:
Battery power died real quick inthe desperate attempto start the afourmentioned motercycle ... attempted crash starting falied too.
Very cool night air + wari huffin and puffin to pussh the bike off the moterway dept resulted in jellied leggs and apain in the area of lungs used only in emergincy sityations ...
anyway a couple offine genlemen assisted ... one used his hazards and followed me UP and I mean UP the moterway offramp to ensure my safelty. Not sure hwo this fella was , but was VERY appreciAtiv of that !!
THanks mate ... :niceone:
At this point Big Dog turned up ... me recogonising him by his bike .
BIgDog offerd a safe place to store the bike which was thankfully closeby and even more thankfully downhill ... whew ... :sweatdrop ... I was spent
Called the wariRoadsideREscue TEam loaded the bike on trailer and tookit home ... its now in a priority queue formy next dayoff.:wait:
Thanks agin BIgDog ... :spudwave:

Agreed, that's the most likely culprit. But I would be suspicious of the reg/rec as well, considering how quickly your battery gave up.

I was wondering what the reg/wof had to do with it until I read that again :)

... or one of the other makes that suffer from crap R/Rs ('Honda' R/Rs are not in fact made by Honda), or other highly stressed and under-designed parts.
Asamatteroffact, I've only ever been stopped at the side of the road once due to a breakdown. It was an electrical part made by Shindengen.
In fact, I've only had one other 'stranding' and that was a flat tyre.
But I've had to push bikes several times (too many) due to running out of brains and petrol....

Anytime, I hated having to leave you there to drop bro in law off. As I said He's scared of the dark and not to keen on traffic either.

Afterwards I had a persistent feeling the stop switch was off. Although his headlights were suitably uplifted his starter was not a starter.
I would concur though from his description it is definately an ignition problem, but I'm thinking more starter, earth, battery, fuse, ignition switch.

Here is a link to an excellent electrical fault finding page. Although this is mainly for Suzuki GS models*, much of it can be used for general fault finding - there are only so many ways to generate and store electricty on bikes, after all http://www.thegsresources.com/garage/gs_statorfault.htm
*following the decline of the British motorcycle industry, it fell to Suzuki, with the GS models, to pick up the baton from where Joe Lucas, Prince of Darkness, let it fall.

Not that surprising being you would have been on the balls of your feet pushing that monster uphill.... especially if you were wearing bike boots.
