For 2007, MV Agusta have countered Ducati's road going Desmodicci supoerbike with a limited edition 200hp F4 Grand Prix. it'll featurem a 1098cc engine that revs to at least 13,000rpm. It's got "shower-type" injection with one nozzle before the butterfly and one after. There will be only 100 of these built, and they're priced at $168,000 AUD!!!

The 06 R6 revs out to 17,500rpm but i think its actually 16.5 before redline. Havent seen any top speed runs on it yet, but i do know that they run like they are on rails.

You should also be aware that Yamaha USA offered all purchasers of the 600 their money back because the reality was so much less than what was claimed. Otherwise they could have been tied up in court for years.

yeah but the new R6 is made from recycled soup cans like most jappy bikes, while no doubt this MV will have been carved from the finest raw materials known to engineer kind.
Imagine dropping it as you leave the dealer...ah who am I kidding, at that price you'd have it delivered.

Looks as if it's gold anodised as well. The whole MV Agusta Limited Edition series of bikes are real works of art. Check these out:
1: MV F4 Senna
2: MV F4 Corse
3: MV F4 Mamba
4: MV F4 SPR

You'd have to be a twat to do that.
While I like MV's, at this price I'd prefer the Duc. Also, the current design has been out since 1999. I smell a new design coming

The cremer of all bikes. The what??
Looks like a rehash compared to the Desmodici. Even if it was faster, better handling, whatever... it would still look like cheap cack compared to the Desmodici... Ducati really made up for the ugly piece of crap that was the 999 when they released that bad boy, even if it costs as much as a whole neighbourhood in Balclutha :p (sorry scummy ;))

'Imdying' obviously you haven't seen a MV close-up or know who actually designed them. Its worth every penny if can afford one, even if its just a basic F4 or a F4CC.

haha, you know, many people around the world keep Mvs in the living room as a work of art.

Really doesn't interest me much 'who actually designed them'... whoopdie doo.
Yep, seen em up close, and they are very nice. No denying that. All I way saying was that that new MV just looks like more of the same, where as the Desmodici is gorgeous and nothing like the 999. In other words, MV are milking their last design for all they can, and Ducati are striving forward, and that alone makes me want the Duke more than the MV. If you think I'm MV bashing (I really don't know what you think), another comparison would be, 'MV are doing with the F4 what Ducati did with the 916, rehashing it over and over'. The saving grace is that (much like the 916) they're rehashing a very nice bike, and that's probably the main reason they get away with it.

Dont Joke!!,I picked up a friends MV Agusta Tamburini for its first service, thought I would be abit cheeky & turned up with a helmet & asked for the keys, jumped & rode off & came sooooo close to being skittled by a little old lady in Charade on the first corner,Completely packed myself, riding someones elses $85000.00 bike, got back to work & was quized big time,as to how was it to ride,The reply was I got into second gear once!!!what do you think!!

The Desmodici is an awesome bike. I would say a better than the MV because of its weight. Yes, the F4 design is a bit old now. Even when it first came out in the late nineties, it wasn't a bike that was years ahead of the rest. Your right with the milking the design part, I have a gut feeling they trying to buy time and try keeping up with the rest of the competition as well and at the same time designing a new F4 or a F5 maybe?
Really doesn't interest me much 'who actually designed them'... whoopdie doo
IMO, the Desmo or the 1098 is sort of an evolution of the 916 ( looks department ). If you compare the rear tail of the 1098, you will see it is very identical to a F4. The 999 was quite ugly to be frank, but still nice in its own way. (The creator of the 999 was actually a student of the person who created the 916). The 996/916 was the most iconic bike of the early 90s. Both the MV and the 1098 share a lot with this bike.
Now, why is it important who designed this bike? Well, the person who designed this bike, or these bikes is know as the Michelangelo of modern bikes. Mossimo Tamburini.
It will be interesting to see MV agusta make a come back into SBK. It might a while till they do, but they will be back. It will be hard for them, because a lot will be expected of them because of their prestigeous racing history.

Agreed. I don't actually hold milking the design some against MV that much. They're a small outfit compared to even Ducati, it's good to have them in the race at all
The 999 was an ugly piece of poo, there can be no doubt about that. The people I feel sorry for are the people with $20k to spend on a Duke. Get one of the all time classics from the 916 shape family, or get the technically better 999? That would be a prick of a decision to make... I'd go the 999, ugly or not, it's a bargin in many ways.
Tamburini has definitely got his shit together styling wise, but I'm a closet Pierluigi Marconi fan I must admit. Which obviously explains my Vyrus over 999 remark earlier :innocent:

I saw one (standard, not a ltd ed.) on Hobson St and the rider must have seen me staring cos they went right thu' first and gave me a nod as they passed. The most sexy sounding bike I have ever heard. Looks are inportant to an extent. Rides like a dream and sounds so so freakin awesome. That's waht you can soak while riding. If only I would ever be able to plonk one in the shed. oh yeah.....
