had a bit of a moment on the way to work this morning, i was just cruising along behind a truck between drury and the turn off to waiuku.
Come up a slight rise in the main road with a side road on the right, white car with female driver waiting .....
Truck goes past, white car pulls out into my lane ......
crap :eek5:
i would guess that i was maybe doing 85-90ish and the gap was approx 15-20m and of course had just had a spot of rain.
jumped on the front brake (as you do) front started sliding all of over the place but somehow managed to keep it upright, had to veer left a little at the end to miss the car. :dodge:
operate horn, use various hand signals, check pants, find correct gear and somehow managed to make it the rest of the way to work.
sexy beast

Anytime, anywhere, when you least expect it, expect it.
Shouldn't have to be that way but to many drivers, you don't exist. They simply do not see you. :(

Yow! Kudos for not staining your pants and keeping your rubber down - I get paranoid enuff when cagers are around me and I think it ain't being paranoid enuff at times!
Nice handling and recovery from the scare! :dodge:

Shit mate, sounds scary. I know you werent in the wrong, but still I hope you learnt a lesson - Leave a fucking big gap where possible as you cant rely on other drivers.
I learnt this lesson when a moron pulled out from the left heading in the opposite direction towing a trailer. I T-Boned the trailer (fortunately at very slow speed) and wrote off my bike. Sure his fault, no one hurt and I got a new bike, BUT you and me were both lucky enought to learn this lesson without injury. :scooter:

yea i thought about it afterwards, but im pretty sure that i wasn't right up the arse of the truck or the car wouldn't have had time to pull right across the other lane and into mine before i had gone past.
The intersection is at the top of a small hill at the end of a gentle right hander, so it isnt the best spot for being able to see whats coming anyway.
probably just another one of those "smdsy" incidents

The worst are the following types:
Women doing makeup
People on cellphones
People queue jumping and forcing gaps
Guys perving at females in adjacent cars
As for the latter had one of those last night, guy was on a cell in his late model commodore and perving at any females in cars on either side stuck in rush hour. Couldn't lane split as this guy was wandering all over the show. Then being stuck behind him he would constantly speed up and slow right down, which is a real pain in the arse when following on a bike.
People queue jumping, had a near miss with one of those at Western Springs the other week. Lefthand lane clogged so I cruising along right lane behind a Peugot, all of a sudden this Peugot points it nose into a small gap in the left lane and hits the picks. Arse of her car blocking 3/4 of my lane and there just happened to be right where there was a little pedestrian refuge island. Just skimmed between it and island and gave her a blast of the might Ginny horn and various gestures.........did I mention young female drive?
