I read in the MCN a few months back that they put up a speed camera in a town in the Isle of Man, it was the first one ever to be put up on the island and it was burnt out with in 24 hours. :Punk:

Yes, the cameras have the full support of the British public.

Duh.
Evidence indeed that our force has undertaken years of training.

If they were signposted here, then it would already be done. Hell next time I see one of those camera vans unattended....

The vandal needs to get one of the T-shirts from farcanal.biz - they seem to be in agreement on the camera issue.
Probably already has one of the "Greed Camera" shirts. If not, farcanal.biz should supply one free on receipt of suitable evidence (which they would doubtless destroy instantly lest it fall into the wrong hands.)

Is it illegal to obstruct an 'undercover' speed camera van, you know like accidentally parking your massive a-frame advertising trailer behind it?

The Essex Safety Camera Partnership, which is run by local authorities, yesterday admitted it has more to worry about than the Colchester saboteur.
'Our biggest problem is the cameras themselves being attacked and set on fire,' said a spokesman.
... I can't get the bastards to burn.. what am I doing wrong ?...

The usual technique appears to be loading the GATSO camera unit up with old car tyres, filling them with fuel, and setting that alight. Obviously the metal frame doesn't take much damage but the camera inside gets toasted.
JCBs and other heavy goods vehicles are also used to shunt the cameras over. Air guns, shotguns and explosives have also been used.
The more frequently used techniques are painting over the lens or covering it with a sticker or a paper mache type of affair.
I can see speed camera destruction becoming the new event in the 2010 Olympics ;)
And as we started to fill in our NZ Expression Of Interest Form last night, I'd like it to be known that I have never taken part in any of the above, lol
