Are very, VERY slow, they really shouldn't try racing even 250cc bikes at the lights, I think the owners should be just a little bit embarrassed that something like a 250cc bike can leave there 1.8l supercharged 'sportscar' for dust :innocent:

Oh he was trying, haha he was definitely trying, i looked up the 0-100 time for them, 7.5 seconds for the manual version, so it's no wonder a certain 250 left it for dead

They have long first gears, accelearate quite slowly, especially at low speeds. Cruise at 140 better than any other 1.8 I've driven before though.
"Sportscar" is a bit generous though, just because it's a coupe...

dont think he was trying dude...
my zxr250 just kept up with a turbo 1.6L caldina... so not sure that you would be a supercharged 1.8L.
The R6 on the otherhand hasnt lost one on the road yet.

I would have thought that coz of power to weight ratios and stuff like that that it would have to be a very fast car and a very slow bike before 0-100 acceleration was comparable. A lot has got to do with Driver/Rider ability at quick gear changes at the correct revs to I would have thought.
Now someone is going to quote wikipedia and say there is no such thing as a power to weight ratio *sigh*

The Euro high performance cars are made for high speed autobahn cruising - they are very slow off the mark.I know it's Japanese, but the Soarer is a very good example. The 4.0 V8 is dead off the line, you could do a U turn on full throttle and it wouldn't even wheelspin. But the 2.5 turbo inline 6 cyl is one of the most neck snapping cars I've driven, man they can haul arse. But acceleration from 180kph? The 2.5 wouldn't have a show, high speed is what the V8 is made for,not stop light drags.

There's definitely a power to weight ratio! As my weight has increased my power has decreased...! 'Course ya gotta factor in the age ratio as well...:bye:

say an average 250cc four will do 5 seconds 0-100's then there aren't many cars that will be able to match it, bar Ferrari 360's, Porsche 911 and well modified WRX's.
Traffic light drags are easy, especially when you're on a bike.

Change that quarter miles, you're average 250cc four will be lucky to do it under 15. A standard WRX will just beat that. Ferrari's and Porsches should smoke that (should be in the 12s, if not faster). Of course an EFI 600 sporty should do in the 11s...
If you're giving them away though, I'll take the kompressor over a 250 any day...

Mercs are gay.......footballers and milfs own them. Also not the most reliable cars in the world.
The old ones are cool though, especially the 190E Cosworth (M3 alike).
Most decent 250's CBR/ZXR etc should do 14 seconds quarters.
Mid 12's for a Ferrari 430, Porsche GT2 will do low 12's. But how many people that own them will be able to drive them at that level.
If they got the gay ferrari f1 style gearbox then they won't be doing any fast starts due to the engine out 10,000km clutch replacements........
Bikes are way better, and you can pull wheelies ;)

Small point, but Toyota don't make a 1.6l Caldina, well not in Turbo anyway. GT-T Caldina is a 2.0l Turbo.

Those Mercedes aren't Sportscars. Besides, a 1.8 litre is not a Sportscar - not by todays standards.
I think riding a mini bike is more embarrassing.

Funnily enough, a woman at work here is married to a hair dresser, and they have an MX-5..

i have driven one of those and yeah - not very fast but VERY GAY. Specially cos the owner is a 23 year old male.:oi-grr: He did get it for about half what it was worth so don't really blame him, nice and comfy and gay.
But they are set up for higher speeds, they just keep accelerating up past 150 like a lot of eurotrash cars, good ol NZ speed limits.

Yeah its a shame about the MX5's, they have such a hairdresser rep and are so good to drive.
I had a play with a Kompressor the other day, I dont think I had to go half way up the tach to leave an angry him, far far behind. The Brennan supercharged HSV the other day on the motorway DID require some revs to beat him. Fastest car I have come against on the bike.

Those big blown Aussies have some grunt. I had to go down 2 gears and use the top 3rd of the revs to catch an XR6 Turbo.
I did have the wife and 3 Givi bags full of crap on though.:done:

500hp big f'in deal, it's dragging 1800 kg's. 3.6 kilos per hp
Even my shite bike will nail that sucker to 160 k's, and that's got 1.2 kilos per hp.
It wouldn't even see which way a litre bike went.

your bike can't be too shite, if we're talking about 180kg and 150hp

Yes please. I never seem to be able to bait people in to drags...I think that the rough, lumpy idle through the too-loud TwoBros full system scares them off.
As for a kompressor to cane a 250 though...yep, that was gonna be my recommendation :niceone: (0-100 4.8 secs or something, nice fora big car).

We're not, that's why it's a shite bike. 120hp and 215 kg's.

haha had another funny little thing happen today
2 lane traffic going up stuart st, and I was in the right lane, boy racer in the left, with about 3 or 4 cars in front of each of us, he kept on dropping off, then flooring it up past me, whereas I was just cruising, I think he wanted a race, (what into the bumpers of the traffic infront of us??) anyway he did it about 3 times, then the next time just as he was dropping off, i gassed it and jumped in front of him :first: hahaha then just to rub it in, i split the gap between a couple of cars, didn't even need to exceed the speed limit or ride dangerously, just had to pick the gaps and leave him to keep dropping off and revving the crap out of his car on his own, lol
