View Full Version : THE NEW ARRIVAL IS FINALLY HERE!!!!!!
Had a call from Motomart at 5.25pm yesterday to say my new baby has arrived in Wgtn! Went in and had a look at her, fresh out of the crate and her plastic wrapping. She's lovely!!!
I collect her tonight. Can't wait. Weather forecast is crap for the weekend, might not get my first 1,000kms done straight away.
I have some protection all ready and waiting to fit before I first ride her: a Ventura headlight protector, a Ducati Corse tank protector, and that 3M Tankslapper stuff that Airplane and someone else has used for where my knees grip the tank.
Before I collect her tonight she'll have a set of Pirelli Diablos fitted instead of the Michelin Pilot Roads (nothing wrong with the Michelins, I've had them on my Beemer, but I love the Diablos on the 800). Also getting a Scottoiler fitted. Also changing the chain from RK (only got 18,000kms out of the RK on the 800 before it developed a tight spot) to DID.
Then we'll be ready to rock.
And at 1,000kms a set of Neptunes is being fitted.
What more could a girl want?
(Well, actually, heaps. You get all these wonderful accessory catalogues with the bike - I brought them home last night and have yellow stickied about every second page. Yeah yeah, I KNOW I don't need a set of titanium rearsets, but wouldn't they look trick? And yeah, I don't need a carbon fibre hugger or front guard, but wouldn't the boys be impressed?)
(and when a girl's got a birthday coming up in the very near future, she has to give the husband plenty of choices as to what to buy her, doesn't she?)
Hey Kewl Lynda, you go girl!
Congrats on your new toy!

2 Monsters. 2. 2 Whole Monsters. Un deux Monsteur.
I am very happy for you, however I also feel conflicted by your rampant consumerism. You should donate the "spare" monster to someone in need like celticno6. It would help your karmic balance. :Pokey:

I don't really know how you feel, I was exuberant when my bike passed its warrant day before yesterday. If I was in your position I think I might pass out.

I know how you feel Dr Bob - I'm following a bike on TradeMe,it's a wreck and will need a complete rebuild, but don't know if I can even afford the couple of hundred bucks to buy it.
Congratulations Lynda,a Monster has been on the top of my dream list since they first came out - 2????...heaven I guess.

Glad it arrived without any more delay & is the right one this time. The spare Pilots would go nicely on the Purple pig :spudbooge , but I guess they kept those.

Great Linda. So now that you have a 'spare' Monster then you wont mind some of us practicing those stunts that were posted on here recently with that Froggy Frenchman. We could use your really old 2003 model.
Name the time and place.

I have jokingly told the Pillion that on the day she becomes the MRS instaed of pillion we are going to be registering at a bike shop! (She agreed until she realised I had been joking.)
By the time I'd done all the paperwork and they got the bike ready ( a couple of minor glitches, but nothing that couldn't be fixed) it was 5.30pm and dark, so I just took a slight detour straight home. Hence have only done 10km, but it feels great - slightly taller than the 800, more low down torque, a bit the same but different. I think I'll be moving to a 14 tooth front sprocket on this one too (from a 15) - the gearing seems too tall.
Hopefully the weather may clear a bit for the weekend and I may get to clock up a few more kms!
Thanks for all your wishes everyone - I am absolutely rapt with having two Ducs. I know it's rampant consumerism, but shit, a girl's got to spend her hubby's money on something now doesn't she :sneaky2:

Very nice bike ! .You must have been taking to Wayne with the 14 tooth front , his fav upgrade. Best you put that corse catalog aside for a while. Two duc's and corse parts might push hubby too far .

Should be fun though, I mean the weather is crap so something to do huh.

Hi Sensei - keeping the standard pipes on for the first 1,000kms then a set of Neptunes will be going on.
Hitcher: red, of course!
Andrew: I pretended to ask Hamish if I could buy it, but luckily he said "yes" because I was going to buy it regardless!!
F/F - yes, one day before too long it will be coming to M'ville - not sure when but will keep you posted.
I haven't been out on it this weekend - went to Taranaki (in the car) on Saturday, picked up a couple of things at Callenders closing down sale. It was very crappy weather when we left here, but nice in Taranaki.
Today was shit weather, so have spent the day putting on the "tankslapper" knee protection, the carbon-fibre-look tank protector, and headlight protector. Hamish is now out in the garage fitting the wiring for my radar detector.
Mooch: yes, Wayne recommends the 14-tooth front sprocket, and it works a treat on my 800. I can feel (after only 10kms!) that this bike will need the same mod. Say "hi" to Mangell6 and Matthewt (aren't you the guy who works with them?)
Can't wait to go for a good ride (in good weather) - yeeharrr! (I'm a pretty happy chappy)

Sorry, I wasn't specific enough - I have kept the old $699 sunnies, they'll do for another year or so. The titanium toe sliders are extra to the sunnies ;)

Nah, not worth it. Neither of you has sufficient influence in my new realm of existence. Maybe if you both worked for IT Apps (ha ha ha ha ha ha).
Actually thinking about it I still don't know what mangell6 really does :bleh:

Is Callenders closing down?
yep, this Friday (26th) is their last day. There's another thread somewhere, I'll try to find it and post it here (I think MadDuck started it?)
Very little stock left, it's very sad. Nice people. I got a few Ducati posters and a banner that they had left from when they used to be Ducati dealers. I felt like a vulture, but the owners were really good about it.
It was BabyB, not MadDuck who posted. Here's the link:

You think that you have problems with what he does, what about him. He doesn't know either!
Got home late last night, about 8pm. Frosty and cold as hell. I couldn't hold out any longer. "let's go for a ride" I said. I normally don't like riding at night, but what the hell. So did about 60km round Wgtn. It's a lovely bike to ride, I'm really going to like it.
Fog City ain't brilliant at night with lots of cars on the motorway.
