Well after only a couple of months of waiting I went to Motorad today and handed over $5400 for my new (to me) bike and Shark helmet. What's that you say? Why yes, yes it is, a RF900 - 1998, 38,000 miles, dark green, pack rack, & Micron exhaust. After extensive research (drooling) on other bikes and trying a couple of them out, I thought that a RF would suit me just fine. I'm planning on doing a bit of commuting, a bit of touring and maybe a track day once in awhile. I don't have a digital camera so you're going to have to make do with these pics for now...
I teed it all up with a little help from a few people;
Jim2 - for putting me onto Motorad (I wasn't considering them because of reports of bad service - WRONG!!)
Barry, Kerry and Glen at Motorad (esp Barry) - Great service, great price and great blokes to boot.
DMNTED (formerly TL Rider) - Chris you're a cock!! Without his constant taunting, bitching and whining I may not have moved my arse as soon as I did.
MDU - Nigga thanks for the pointer about RF's they're are vastly under-rated.
Pastybee - Peter. He held my hand today and we went and had lunch in Levin (don't lie Peter you loved it!!)
And everyone else on KB who've put up with my moaning and whinging about not having a bike (cutting the Jihad Shiatzu in half would not have meant having two bikes) I'll be sending some PM's...
So, to today's ride. Just a little tickle to get me going - it's been awhile since I've had a proper roadbike (the Savage doesn't count). To get my head around sitting on a bike again I thought it might be nice to take a little ride up the coast and get the feel of riding again. I wasn't planning on any length of journey just getting out there and riding, just for a little bit. Pastybee came over to meet me at the shop I got there early and was told they had to fininsh the fork seals (the seals came late yesterday) so I'd have an hour to kill. I had some errands so borrowed a Hyosung GT250 (85 k's on the clock) and went off cruising arouns town. Got back and had a coffee while waiting for the bike and PB. PB had to get a warrant (some people... :oi-grr:) so he went off and my bike turned up gassed up and ready to go about 2 mins later. On board and ready to go. Went round the corner and got PB, gas for him and hit the road. We stopped at Paraparaumu to see how things were - and they were great!! So we kept going. It wasn't til Levin that the tummy was rumbling and we stopped for a bite at Sponge cafe - ironic really - I wasn't paying!! Bacon, eggs, hashbrowns and coffe in the sun - marvellous! Unfortunately (coz I'm a fresh newbie) we came back via the main highway, which was uneventful but nice nonetheless. Dropped off PB at Mobil J'ille and pootled along the back road to Karori...
You know how after you've been for a ride and there's a sort of contentment? Yeah, well that's what I'm feeling now. I'm off to pick up some beer and wine (for her) and I'm going to have a couple tonight just coz I feel so damn good. See you on the road sometime peoples. My first group ride will probably be 1st October KB 'rapa ride.
Cheers all,
Col

Used to have an RF400 as one of my first bikes and loved it.
Was a great ride. Just a little small for my weight. I am sure the 900 is just as fun to ride.
Enjoy:scooter:

Nice one Cola!
A nice bike. You paid a good price for yours.
PM me for a copy of the official Suzuki Repair Manual as a PDF. I can give you it on CD.
I have the version that's taken straight from the actual printers file, not the tatty one that's scanned from a fax.

Congrats on the bike. Agree with you on the news about Barry's departure from Motorad. That stinks. He has been nothing short of fantastic to me over many years of changing bikes. Not just his good service I'll miss. It's a friend to pop in for a chat as you pass across town. Just wont be the same that shop.

Great news Col! I don't know much about those bikes but they have always impressed me as a good value for bucks type of bike.
All the riders I have spoken to about them reckon (as they would) they are very good.
Like a pair of quality shoes never quite in fashion but never out and always comfortable and always available! "Value for money"
So I guess we will be seeing you down here soon! :done: Cheers John.
