Nice 'on-bike' tool kits
Like most modern bikes my Buell came with a most rudimentary tool kit. Pressed sheet steel spanners and a lightweight screwdriver mainly – all in a case engineered so tightly that adding a cable tie to the contents almost means you can’t close the zipper.
Good enough for adjustments on the road and not quite as bad as the Cruz Tools company’s assertion that they are made out of 'cheese', but hardly heavy duty.
That’s what the Cruz tool kits are about, good quality, robust tools in a compact set designed for use ON a motorcycle – either carried under the seat, or on the fasteners.
I went for a great little Imperial set – Harley owners also take note – there is a range of kits for those of us left in the American way. It includes a tyre guage, ring and open enders, tube spanner, various keys, and a multi blade screwdriver – even some cable ties and a red rag - no bull.
They boys down stairs at AMPS have been swinging these spanners for a few months now and are pleased with the quality and durability. ‘Not chrome plated chocolate.’ Is “Moose’s” glowing (if not grunted) endorsement.
Good enough for me – I have been using the kit to get the wirework component of the luggage on and off the bike in the shed and it’s reassuring to know that if something does shake loose when I’m ‘out there’ I have something more substantial than Colin’s spool of No8 wire in the topbox to get me sorted.
Prices range from $73.00 for the pouched kits and the folding tool version – kind of a Swiss army pocket knife with spanners – starts at $43.00.
Imported by PCW - Available from AMPS and other good shops.
Good Stuff.
