I'd just like to say that it was the worst possible weekend for my mates to have booked accommodation in Ohakune for a weekends ski-ing. EXTREMELY jealous of all the "cold kiwiers" squirting past us (especially the RG500). Hope ya'll had a great time.

No matter how hard I tried I could never ski, tried snowboarding and have never looked back. Took a day of trying to get the basics, and funny thing is I cant surf or skateboard yet I can snowboard :Punk:

Took my son who is 8 to snowplanet not long ago to give snowboarding a go, within 2 hours he had the basics and was off...........so jealous

snowboarding is easy, skateboarding, less easy, surfing hard to learn but once ya get it, it's awesome, but still hard to learn new stuff, love surfing the most tho

I was down there as well, knew about the Cold Kiwi but had no idea it was on while I was down! The only consolation for not being on my bike was the great weather up the mountain, was so nice that I felt the need to go for a stubbies and singlet run. Cheers to the guy with the zx10r I had a quick yak with outside the powderhorn for explaining that the reason for all the bikes was infact the Cold Kiwi!

That'll teach you for snowboarding scracha, before you know it you'll be ruining the snow and taking out all us innocent skiiers :p

I'm still working out how I can fit a surfboard onto my bike! That would be the best possible combination of things for me! A noob rider and a noob surfer going out for a blat and catching a wave and then blatting onto catching the next wave at the next beach somewhere else! :yes:

There used to be a bike set up for that in town here many moons ago. It wasn't a big bike either (Honda 175?).

It had a pair of specially made clips ( _U ) mounted on the side but there was room for the rider to get his leg between the board and the bike. I seem to recall the board being on the near side of the bike. That would be more awkward than having it on the off side but there may have been a reason for that.

I've done it on my old XT250, I just strapped it on using bungies. Just a word of warning tho, have the board facing forwards with the top on the inside, so that the wind cant get on the inside of it. Oh, and dont expect to be able to go around sharp corners. Going from memory (this was 10 or so years ago) I strapped it on the right hand side so I could still get to the gear lever, and wound up bump-starting the bike. Wouldnt recommend it on town roads, but it worked a treat on Great Barrier Island.

You think you were jealous? Anyone see the Beekeeper just before Otorahanga working on the side of the road? That was me. Coudnt get time off to go. But had to watch all the bikes go past. Bugger!
