Apparently Hyosung are looking at mass producing the required GV 650 accessories (and GV 250 as far as I'm aware) for Police use in Seoul. I've also come across this interesting Fire edition which is somewhat unique !!
Any Hyosung bashing in this thread will be dealt with swiftly and may include passive red repping an/or verbal abuse.

I can understand a police bike but what would a fireman need a bike for? Any firemen out there who can answer what you can use it for.
The bikes look o.k by the way...

So who comes to rescue them?

Good on them for going with a local supplier.
Hope the fires not too big though - those saddle tanks would run out pretty quick. They must be filled with foam or you wouldnt get above 50 km/h!

Where's the ambo version?
Out of all the emergency services, ambo's are (IMHO) the one's who'd most benefit from a motorcycle division.
I vaguely recall somewhere in Europe now have motorcycle ambos for rapid response. They get to the scene faster than anyone else can, do the necessary work to stabilise the injuried til the full ambulances arrive.
As Drum said, good on them for going with a local manufacture. We all bag on Hyosung now, but the position they are in is no different to the position the jap manufacturers were in back when they started out.
You can see the time order for these new players getting up to par (this includes the chinese manufacturers).
Firstly they imitate. Cheap carbon copy knockoffs. Prone to breaking, generally shite.
Secondly they imitate better. Still cheaper knockoffs. But less prone to breaking. Their workforce are starting to get the necessary engineering skills.
Thirdly, they experiment. Workforce more skilled. Started to lose the cheap knockoff reputation. No longer need to just copy what's already being done, can start to try new things.
Forthly, they succeed.
Don't be suprised if by 2020 we see a MotoGP champion on a Chinese bike. Same goes for Hyosung. They could easily be a player by 2010 if that's what they want.

..
Auckland used to have a motorcycle ambo group. But I think I remember Mr Speedie saying they's more or less abandoned it. Saw them a few times, BMWs looked a bit like cops but different colours.
Dunno why they gave it away I also would have though that paramedics on bikes made a lot of sense.

I think the reason for the "Fire Bike" is due to the nightmare involved in getting a truck around some of those congested streets that aren't all that wide to start with.
Pity about the Paramedic bikes over here being abandoned, I remember seeing them at larger events and occasionally cruising down the motorway.

Fire bikes are used elsewhere in the world and are used by the bosses to get to a scene quickly and assess what resources are or are not required. Getting through congestion is their forte. They do not fight fires, but mangage incidents..............
Sounds logical, but the one in the picture looks like its got a hose reel and tanks attached.

I wouldn't be seen dead on any of those at work
Good because I don't like seeing dead people on Motorcycles.

OK I'm about to open myself up for a massive ribbing but I can see the point in a congested asian city having a small(ish) bike for the coppers and fire first response. They don't look foul.
