View Full Version : My Spring Holiday

Its a bit late to be putting this threat up, but Im getting excited about my next few days.
I started a weeks annual leave on Friday afternoon, travelled to Auckland to pick up my 17yr old Aussie daughter at midnight, who has come over for her first ever motorcycling holiday with her mum in NZ:shit: The past few days weather has been premo as we prepared for our journey, starting tomorrow. Yesterday we did a quick blat out to Tutukaka, 75ks in total so a short ride but a fast one. The bike is sitting beautifully two up on the road (mind you she's all of 50kg, so her 50kg of clothes on the back for the next four days should work out well, I'll take a toothbrush and change of tee-shirt:rolleyes: ), I trialled it with our luggage last weekend when we decided to do the coro loop, definately need to adjust the suspension for my solo day rides, but with weight on the back Im so much more confident on it.
Anyway, tomorrow AM we head south from Whangarei, destination Rotorua. My girl has a friend there, and has never seen south of Auckland of the North Island. One night over at Rotorua and at this stage I plan to do a quick zip down to Taupo Wednesday morning, then head for Tauranga Wednesday afternoon, catch up with some family, and hopefully end up in Whangamata Wednesday night. Thursday I want to do the Coro loop getting to Auckland Thrusday evening. I'll probably be looking for a bed Auckland Thursday night or roll on through to Whangarei that evening.
So, not sure what that distance works out at, but Im sitting on 4,800ks at present and went and booked my 6,000k service for a couple of weeks after I get back. I'd love to do the Miranda turn off again ending up in Clevdon, but the cool thing about this jorney is it doesnt really matter where we end up, its the actual journey that counts.
Any KBers out there floating around for the next few days looking for some company on the road, I'll be there, looking forward to seeing all your local turf in Central North Island.

A biker gal and her daughter on a bike roadtrip - I'm guessing you'll have to beat the greasy biker boys off with something.

Ahhh, OK, your all too kind fellow bikers. Yep, just the two of us. DMNTD one is escorting us to Auckland, and we pick up another escort Welsford (yes, one of you jaffas), I figure by the time we get to Rotorua, we'll have a whole possy of bikers, 'escorting us' on our journey. Oh to be so popular :innocent:

I think that Duc_gurl should fit in nicely as a member of the "Norfland crew" redneck country should be like being home.......:innocent:

Will definately be taking many pic's of our journey. The weather is going to get a bit worse I think but hopefully it will stay mainly in the far south, and keep away from the North East coast and central plateau areas. We only have a booking for Tuesday night in Rotorua at this stage. Over the next three days after that I'll just go where the weather pushes us. Looking forward to doing some serious Ks, I'll be disappointed if we do less than 1500ks, I want to get my riding going good for that awesome summer thats just on our doorstep:yes:
