DingDong
4th September 2006, 17:39
I figured we'd do the same as last time, get as many Kbers and their friends to the Okoroire pub for lunch a chitchat and a few u know whats.

Use this thread to post your ride plan... so others who dont know the way can tag-on... it'd be great to see everyone and catch up in person.

See calender link below for more details

Cheers:yes:

Its pretty close to home for us Hamiltonians.. but if anyone's keen, how about going via Frenchpass, Whitehall, Karapiro, Taotaoroa, then across the main TGA road towards SH27 and Tirau.

On the way back to Putaruru, Arapuni, cross the river, and home round the back of Maungatautari, perhaps on to Kihikihi and Pirongia etc?

Okay for most people its very close to matamata, just on waiakto side of the kamais

Very basic map for those who to not know.

I am sure someone along the route would be glad to meet them somewhere, aka matamata, if they decide to come 27 or hamilton if decide to come that way

Still trying to work out where the freck it is though... Will have no problem finding the Oak (been there many a time). Will see how the pingers are closer ta the time, but am kean ta catch-up with the Tau crew again. Might even make a long WE out of it if the mood swing that way (Whg-Tau Sat, Hook up With Tau crew ta ride to the Oak, Head home on the Mon).

I have made the Okororie a regular stop recently as I have needed a Mototcycle pub to fill in for the Puhoi as I now live and work in the Waikato. Cool pub and some awesome back roads to get there. But why did you have to pick my Mums birthday to meet there. Will probably have to take the family up to F####N Auckland for a birthday lunch  Otherwise I will be there for sure.

We want to head thru PyesPa and down SH5 on the way to Oko... that way we can head home over the Kaimais... more fun going up.:scooter:

We're meeting at 8:30am at the new servo in GatePa (From Pyes Pa Rd, keep heading down town on Cameron Rd and you'll hit road works... look in the right mirror and you'll find you just went past us... there is a Wendys and a Red Rooster there too, cant miss it... big new complex.

I can see your problem... pretty boring ride from Vegas to Oko, but just think about the Kaimai/Pyes Pa ride home afterwards:yes:

From the BomBays, heading towards Matamata on SH27... it should take you no more than 2hrs. (1.5hrs at 110kph... not stopping or being a nana behind traffic)

Another way is to head to Huntly, cut through Gordonton, then Morrinsville, then Matamata... about the same time.

Another way is to head to Paeroa, Turn off to Te Aroha etc etc, catch up with the TA guys... I thinks this ways a longer... might be wrong:whocares:

Not so worried about that now mate, this bike is far more stable than I'de been informed. Not once on the ride up was I caught ofguard on a corner and my average speed was about 140.

Even if I do enter a corner a bit hot only a minor tap on the front brakes slows me down enough almost instantly. And dispite riding it harder than I ever did the Virago, I'm no where near the edge of the tyre. Gonna take it up the Kaimias tomorrow though to double check that.

Well, was up and about early so I got to BP Bombay no probs to meet up with aididdy - turns out some other KBers were gathering there also!

Had a nice natter until aididdy pulls up - and his ride spurts brown hot liquid onto the ground! Well, to cut a long story short - he refills with water and joins the group for the ride down to Oko!

A quick blat down the motorway and down via some country lanes led by our capable ride master saw us lose one member to mechanical difficulties. Bling to Nick who helped him out.

Well, some nice twisties and some pucker moments for me - when I truly got to scrub off my chicken strips! Loved the long sweeping corners and got the lean on... but... I crossed the center line...once! Had a great feed at Oko pub and got to look at some seriously drool making machines (I felt pain seeing one on the back of a trailer).

Ordered the Lambs fry with bacon, toast, gravy and peas and settled down with a coke and ginger beer. :drinknsin: Luverrly stuff and got chatting with Busa Pete and co. Thanks to my group for being patient and allowing my 250cc to tag along with the bigger machines! I'm sure they were holding back just because of me!

Sun was hot, food was good, company excellent - even saw The Dover and his missus and others from the Thursday Night Goat Track run! Awesome.
The ride back was quick and I'm now in the process of getting the photos I took processed! Will post them later!

Ahhhh - this is what I always thought biking would be, like-minded people out and about enjoying the day and their rides. Seriously kewl.

Its 4.56pm - the Suns still shining so I'm off to do more riding now my arse ain't so sore! :woohoo:

Just a couple of photos from today's ride-in. Great to meet old friends who I hadn't seen for ages as well meet a whole load of new people from KB. The distance award must be shared pretty equally by Rider in Black from Whangarei and Mangell6 from the Kapiti Coast. Mangell6 left Kapiti this morning at 0615, stopped for a coffee and a pee in Tokoroa before coming on to Okoroire, stayed for a couple of hours then turned round and headed home. Just a "wee" training run for the Grand Challenge next month:2thumbsup :2thumbsup :2thumbsup.

well, i got a txt bright an early sying "I know your awake c**t.. are we riding!" .. so of i go and meet Dover & Vic for what i think is gonna be a few hours ride south! Well.. we get lost in the outback and find some awesome roads and i have a play at some micro wheelies. Dover puts on a good pace and we stop loads of times for smoko's and a yarn and many a quick look at the map of Dover :2thumbsup One twitchy moment for us all on a long left hand sweeper sees us all sliding our arses out as theres a huge pile of something on the apex of teh bend :buggerd: otehr than that its a top ride

a few hours later we come back into cambridge to find a gixxer sat on a corner waiting for us.. thats 3 gixxers and ma honduh.. i point at the bike and Dover confirms thats 'Crazy Steve' :)

So off we trek and next thing i know we're at a pub out the back of yonda with a load of other bikers.. fuck me! nice one !

good to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones; managed to have a beer or two and catch some sun

the trip back we catch up for a cup of tea at the WINJA's castle and then head back north.

Fuck, I'm tired.

Pleasure riding with boomer as always, someone to make me look quick ;)

Nice twelve o'clocks bro, but I think the honduh's about 2 hours slow. Yesterday. Keep trying dude, I was giggling in my helmet cos I know how much you wanna get it up!

Good pace with Crazy Steve thru to kihi kihi and up to Chez WINJA and then a fucking good ride up 22 and some offshoots that I haven't done before. I have to say that it's probably one of my favourite roads, real rythmic.

410km's all up today and the 750's tyre is poked. And both our gixxers need a service. Arse.

Good to meet some new faces and catch up with Korn, Fish, Goblin, Turtle, 2Much, Terminal Addict and numerous others again.

And gaylander, where was my kiss?

Right, stopped fanning about on the bike tonight and got back to posting up the piccies I took!

Just a few from the bike park and a shot towards the outside deck where it was pretty filled to the gunnels with riders!

Last shot is one entree of road rash! Using his own special brand of antiseptic! Don't try this at home kiddies!

Cheers to everyone that allowed my little 250cc to tag along! Really enjoyed the company and the small funny moments (the Okoroire signposting was a fave game to play "I spy" with!) The route was fantastic and watching other experienced riders going through their paces was instructional!

The rest was when we left Oko pub and making our trip home, group leader pulled us over for a smoko and confab about "Where we were" - no hay problema, everyone gunned for home, I got left on the Hampton Downs Rd interchange where I watched the other powerful machines blasted off to parts unknown on the SH! Shucks, they had pillion passengers and I could only watch them become small dots in the distance

After Jimbo & Fred left me & Pete at the Kaimais we watched Fred go up & down another few times then we did the same and cruised home via Te Puke, stopped at Pikowai for ciggies, over my old favourite Braemar road, Rotomas then Hamurana and home. Wicked day out!

Total Awesome Dudes and Dudettes. Had one very happy but butt-sore Pillion by the time we got Home. Trish did really well considering that this was only the 2nd WE I've had her on "Roxanne" and the last time she was on 1 was back when she was 16. Trish really enjoyed herself.
Super Big thanks ta BabyB for putting us up on Sat. Totally Awesome as usually:hug:

Yeah got the bike to boyds today, and a set of M3's ordered. .. .turns out the M3's as a set were cheaper than z6's which surprised me, and cheaper than pilot powers or even pilot sports .....
Ultimately the descision was made by the review in KR mag from a couple of months ago, that absolutely raved about the M3's ... here's hoping I get good kays out of them

[QUOTE=gijoe1313;764074]Cheers to everyone that allowed my little 250cc to tag along! , I got left on the Hampton Downs Rd interchange where I watched the other powerful machines blasted off to parts unknown on the SH! Shucks, they had pillion passengers and I could only watch them become small dots in the distance

nice to have meet you .you maintained a good pace all day the R6 did some good power stands on the motorway beside you .i thought the TL1000R at hampton downs was you thats why i took of thinking the forth headlight was yours .hope to see you on a northern ride soon .

All good  I did a ride north today! Up to Waipu (not enough daylight to reach Whangarei unfortunately!) and back to Takanini - will ride North of the North to the lighthouse soon however (before the school holidays are over and I'm back to teaching!).
I'll PM ya when I'm heading up that way!

Cheers!

Hey all!
What a great day... well mostly, Left a few minutes before everyone else (as I do, usually they catch up fly past me and wait at the next turn off for me... However on this occasion I made it to the end of Pyes Pa without being overtaken by anyone, at first I thought 'Hmm they must have stood around talking crap for longer than I thought' 10 minutes goes by and I figure I'd have a smoke if noone shows up I'll head back.... 'please don't let it be My Man'. Then they show up... nice ... Idrumm pulls up and takes off his helmet, says ... "Now he's okay, just a couple of grazes" :gob: WTF!!!! We sent the others on their way and Idrumm suggested I have a smoke, Saul and BB & BB arrived after waiting for DD with the ute. My man finally called and said he was headed to the Oak, so off we went.
Anyway was good to see you all there, well done for making the effort Aucklanders...
Was great to ride with Peta finally.
Cheer for organising another great day DD. And for looking after the man. :)
See you all on the road again soon.
Ride safe.
