Rent/Hire Bike Auckland

I'm going to Auckland in late October with a friend and fancied taking a bike for a spin for an afternoon. Checked the hire companies online and it looks prohibitively expensive.

Never ridden a Harley so that's one idea but a Ducati or any big bike would do. I'll need helmets and gear for two.

I'm not asking to borrow a bike from anyone here. Just wondered if there are any suggestions?

Yeah I did think of that but it would be a bit dishonest and I still need gear for two.

Thanks Lou, I'll pm you - might be in a few days when I find time. Harley or Thruxton would be the business but really, any 1000 bike would do.

I have found Dean at NZ Bike Rentals (http://www.nzbike.com) to be the best operator in Auckland. Here is their rate card (http://www.nzbike.com/2004/Category.asp?ParentPageId=7&CategoryId=-1772139756). The R1150GS in the low season is especially good value for money.
