and a paragraph copied from the same paper a few months ago:
Politicians once again scored the dubious honour of the survey's least trusted profession, just marginally behind car salespeople and, a new entrant this year, telemarketers. Politicians have now earned the wooden spoon of the professions category for six years in a row.

Unfortunately her statement here is quite true:
"She says on most days, children are sitting in the public gallery observing how MPs conduct themselves and she is embarrassed they should see adults behaving so badly."
But I would gladly trust her as far as I could throw her......:shit:

Not always true - Helen Clarkes lips never moved on her pledge card and she was both stealing and lying at the same time.. Thats the problem with female politicians, they can multi task...

The woman has a point, shit, if it were my dollars paying for anyone to act like a kindergartener on speed, I would want that person to be me! But I couldn't afford to pay me as much as we pay them to do just that.
The whole system is inherantly screwed. The object is what is best for the party in power, not what is best for the country.
Hip hop research tour anyone??

One of the key requirements to be a successful politician is to be a failure in the real world - this can be seen in the present government. If you are a success (for instance John Key) large factions of the hippy, environ - mentalist, beardy-weirdy, communist brigade vote against you.

[Off Topic Rant]
I love how my industry always rates at the bottom of the list (car dealers) yet people always ask me my opinion, treat me like their best friend, etc etc. Oh well, the pay is good so who cares where we rank.

A good car dealer is hard to find though! I am pretty sure you would be one, biker = good bastard, but shit, I have been told some bollocks looking at cars by dealers who thought they could pull the wool.
Had to learn though, bought one car, total rip off, they didn't even rego and WOF it, and the tires where bald. Wasn't a cheapy either, just a whackoff dealer, and I never thought to check.
Back on topic, Being a politician would be good if you could stay out of the BS games they play, but that wouldn't be easy methinks.

I disagree Finn - I don't think she would be the one biting the pillow in her relationships...

At the risk of dragging this back on topic...
It's one of the "must do" things for kiwis... show up to the chamber during a debate.
God almighty - the levels of pathetic behavious would astound you. 1/2 of them are there reading papers, and ding... who knows what, but their brains are obviously not involved, and the other half are yelling at each other from opposite sides of the house like kids in highchairs.
If your average company had a single meeting like the general debate in Parliament management would sack itself.
Sorry - rant over - I'm off home

Tariana "embarrassed" by polititions behaviour - that's a bit of the pot calling the kettle black! Being part of a party (made up of shit stirrers) who've had no problems engaging in personal politics for a number of years to further their 'cause' and now this from her??!!?? Shove her back up the arse of the horse she rode in on!

Fark it's not like that hasn't happened before! Of course I am doing my bit - I married a Samoan.
The Maori Party is not about Maori politics or rights. The Maori party is a jobs for da bro's an ho's - coz it's too hard to make a living protesting at random locations around the country.

Are we sure those WERE Tarianas words. I did not hear holocaust or any racial issue in them. Perhaps it actually issued from Jeanette Fit. Yes - that sounds more like it, Greens like civility - smack free discussions and such.

Does anyone remember the "debating club" at school?
These are the same guys (and gals) that become politicians.
While the rest of us were chuckin the bladder 'round and trying to score chicks, they were arguing!
discalimer:This post includes sweeping generalisations and stereotypes

And the ones that weren't in the debating club, but complained bitterly about not being invited in, joined the Maori party. Once someone found out that they did want to join and they were invited, they declined stating that they would never join the establishment and that it was just another way that "The Man" was trying oppress them!
