Hi everyone, does anybody know much about the Triumph 600. I was looking into a 2003 model, taking it out for a test ride tomorrow. I don't know much about them but have read an article on the internet that raved about it. However I have also heard its a well know lemon!
Comments appreciated please.... I will only be back on internet tomrrow late night so thanks in advance for help :)

Triumph rushed the TT600 onto the market originally.
They came out with faulty fuel injection mapping that delivered very poor midrange and a screaming top end.
It took them too long to get it right and the bike lost any sales momentum here and built a poor reputation.

The mapping was sorted by release 16 or 17 and they are now a solid, good handling, if unremarkable (by current standards) performer.

Usually good value because of the stink of the original fuel map lingering. Easily sorted. Good brakes and steering. A clean one is not a bad lookin unit either.

A work-mate had one and he had a ball on it. Reakons it had enough grunt for him and handled well too.

If you are talking about the TT600 then........dated looks, crap fueling map, good motor but not quite as quick as other sprot 600's of that date and IMHO overpriced in this country.
In its defense you can download a new fuel map from Triumph for free (or get your Triumph dealer to do it for you) and the chassis is sublime. Even the most jaundiced of magazine testers had to admit to the superb handling. Additionally, it spawned (with a little help from Italy) the Speed Four which, while not particularly purty is a real fun machine. The TT will hold its own with any similar sprot bike thru the twistys.

Thanks to all who replied, was much appreciated.
I guess can't hurt to take it out for a ride and see what it is all about.

Mmmm! Only well said, reasonable responses to this one!

Yep, that's the best you can do! They're not a bad bike overall and I'm sure it will impress you.

I would definitely take it for a ride if I was you... but I wouldn't buy one without having ridden jap 600s of similar money. All the reviews pointed to them being ok, but falling short of the standards set by the japanese 600s. Once you've tried a few, you'll be able to make an informed decision

The newer angled-look of the later Daytona 600 and the subsequent 650 was bloody great I reckon, woulda been quite happy with one I reckon. Probably would been a bit peeved tho buying an earlier TT600 and seeing them develop then dump the thing in fairly short order.

03 was the Daytona wasn't it? not the TT. If so, had an 04 and absolutely loved it, you won't be disappointed, they are an awesome bike.
