It also begs the question: can we expect to see this powerplant in an updated Transalp in the near future?

The motor would be a logical next step - not a great increase in size @ 680cc but with all the other improvements, the fuel injection in particular, it fits the bill. When will it be done? - thats anyones guess but the current 650 has been around for 6-7 years now so its due for a significant update.
There's not much wrong with the 650 having said that - in many ways the ideal NZ conditions motorcylce. More of a case of gradual evolution rather than requiring a revolution
