When was the last time you repacked your muffler?

I know I'm going to regret that title!

Have just put an aftermarket muffler on the bike and noticed that the instructions suggested to have your muffler repack your muffler every 24,000 Ks.

Why?

I mean I expect its to do with the long term effects of heat on the packing, but what happens if you don't?

Just wondering.

it gets bloody loud....i did mine the other day....hadnt been done for 38000 kms and was just to loud....plenty of steel wool and packing later its much better...sounds deeper to...
