Now everytime I see a bike on the way to work down the northwestern (hell anybike anywhere) I wonder if it's a KB'r or not... so, if you're a regular of the northwestern feel free to post your bike type, it's colour (hell even helmet colour)... and any other distinctives (i.e a givi on the back) so we (i) can get an idea of whos who...
I'm not heading down the motorway on the bike all the time just yet (short runs), soon enough will be, but on occasion if i'm in the cage I see bikes heading the whole way in...
You know it's me if:
It's a black bandit 250, black riding gear and a black helmet... with an L plate on the back.

bike is in profile pic, got a silver/black helmet with a KB sticker (yellow square) on the back, and one next to my right mirror on the the screen. Normally wearing a blue/black jacket, draggins and my orange backpack.
For the police... this is actually a guy that looks like me and rides the same bike as me, but in fact is not actually me. Honest. No, seriously.

I had a trip out to your ways last night, pootled around the back way via Avondale, got on/off Te Atatu way - went out to Westgate and had a bite at the BK's there (Hungers worst nightmare) and then tootled back home on the moronway system.
Did see another biker but didn't know if it was a kber, back out to south, hooked up with another biker who was going further than Takanini where I pulled off, we must have been kindred spirits since we both waved off at the same time!
Just tonight I was doing the big circuit to test my bulb replacement job on my instrument panel (my speedometer wasn't lit up at night!). Went from Takanini to City, Mission Bay, Newmarket to Remuera, through to Panmure, continued to Botany and then did a night run through the back blocks of Whitford/Alfriston/Takanini and now back home where I am typing this up!
Hope to have more rides out NW and stomping around your neck of the woods!:scooter:

Well I did my first ride down the NW at 8:30 this am and bugger me, I'm sure Wilsons Carparks has shares in that thing. Started splitting as soon as I got on at Westgate and didn't have any breaks till Pt Chev when I got off.
WTF are all these idiots doing sitting BY THEMSELVES in their cages? Haven't they heard of car-pooling or buses? I reckon the coppas should pull over all single occupant vehicles and get them to prove why they should be there.
And after seeing the proposed roading plans that they want to toll the arse out of Aucklanders for, a third lane for the NW is scheduled for 2015. Has ANYONE who works for Transit ever driven this damn road? Get them out a few mornings and I'm sure they would up the priority. Can't see why the hell they'd work on more ditributors onto the motorway with it not having enough capacity for whats there now. Dumbasses.

Will be interesting when ever they do it, as being the cheap arses they are the toll lanes are going to be "barriered" between Westgate and Avondale. No doubt it will be a cheese grater style.
Did note though they didnt mention motorbikes for tolling

Didn't recognise you or the bike as one I've seen before. Couldn't figure out what the cage in the left hand lane was doing - looked like he either stalled or banged up the arse of the car in front - didn't notice any damage as we went past ;) Did notice the Bandit parked by the median strip on the way home though - didn't see a rider, but then again, was pleased the traffic was finally clearing up.
Seems like more bikes are out and about on the fine days & plenty using cages in the crappier weather. I'd rather put up with the wet than the extra hour to get to work. (yeah, I'm the DR trying not to wobble too much, unless I'm splitting, then it's fun to watch the cars drop back hehehe)

oh im the dude on a purple/blue ZZR250
Normally go from westgate to gillies ave at varying times during the week.. will be zipping down northwestern between 7.30/8am tomorrow mornin!
Whereabouts in west harbour are you Dan? I live just on Hobby road, work at the boat sales yard just before the marina shops - should pop in and give me a holla if ever down there.
I was behind a mini yesterday I think, on the 16 heading toward westgate - id just been putting the bike through its paces on the riverhead highway, in the wind and rain

After 12 months I am finally up and about on the Wideglide. It has been repainted (got the spitfire dogfight thing going on) and you'll notice the limp if I'm off the bike.
Not on the NW MW at any particular time but do ride it a couple of times a week during office hours. I usually have leather bags on the back most days.
"Ups" to all you fellow westy motorcycklers!

I saw heaps of bikes today...
One rider on a very nice blue cruiser going towards Avondale around 3.15 to 3.30pm wont last long if they chop and change lanes without even looking or signalling.... even cut right in front of me as well as many cars... silly buggar never even looked in their mirrors once...
I did have fun with another rider heading through New Lynn up past Waikamete Hill..... we both split lanes at every set of lights..... we had fun. They were on a 750 sportbike

Hi Crashe.
I haven't hit the pool since the last swim cost me 3 days in hospital and a month of taking it easy with a nice little infection. The leg still has some slightly open wounds - even after all this time - so until they heal up I won't be going anywhere near a public pool.
But don't let that put you off - the exercise was great and I enjoyed it.
Off for a ride tomorrow so look out for a carefully ridden harley out west!
Cheers,
Bruiser

on ride in this morning btwn 7-7:30 saw more bikes that I can recall for a long time:scooter:
Followed a Blue DR650 for a while that went onto the southern link
Yellow SV650
I wonder if the Yellow SV is me ???
The timing doesn't quite work, if I'm on dayshift, I'm on the Motorway city-bound 6:30ish ... or if I'm working nights .. I'd be westbound 7ish.
Could be me I suppose, how many yellow sv's can there possibly be in West Auckland ??

from memory the SV came down Titirangi Rd, turned right onto Gt North and then rejoined avondale somewhere.
I haven't seen it since

In my cage today, dutchee pasted me on the way home on DR650.
Your head is on a swivel, you are probably the most alert rider I've noticed so far.

Anyone ride on the Northwestern yesterday (Thursday)... I rode west bound home at 7pm, crikey I had to hold on for my dear life and man it was cold compared to earlier in the week... I thought can't be worse than riding over the Harbour Bridge though I guess, that would have been well scary I reckon. :cold:

Been meaning to post in here for a while now...
I'm a random commuter due to intermittent lectures at Auckland University and work in the CBD - I can be spotted at all times of the day - not usually at peak times luckily!
I'm really easy to spot, 'cos I'm the clown with the (off)yellow mohawk on my blue Nitro helmet mounted on the little red Bandit.
I go all the way to the NW at waterview from Laingholm, via Titirangi and along Ash st/Gt North Rd.
Hope to spot y'all on the Westie roads sometime...
