Indeed i did fill up there while PLUG poped in to the Canty Rides shop with a strange noise.
It was a good run, a little windy on the top of the hill above the Okuku Pass and i broke a mirror when i fell over on another side excurson we did. The fords were mostly empty and the road a little rutted in places.
Then we took the Waimak shingle roads back.
I'll check the photos and post some stuff latter.

1- Top of the Okuku... i think...notice there's no snow this time.
2-Sheltering from the wind having lunch at the main river in Lees Valley.
3-Where the bikes were parked at the lunch stop.
4-my bike damage

... if we told you that, then we would have to kill you ... may be, just may be ... after a few ph calls we might be able to cut across from Lees Valley into the back of Hawarden & on up to Lake Sumner ... a bit of Koha (if thats how its spelt) might be involved.

You guys are the men. Definatly let me know if you go to organise the Lees Valley to Lake Sumner via Hawaden trip. I'll even help with the koha if necessary.

Well done guys. Oh hope you enjoyed the ride too.

Nice ride guys haven't been through there since I lived in ChCh in the 70's. As for the mirror that's your luck buggered for 7 years isn't it? You may as well lend your bikes to someone else for the duration it won't be safe for you to ride them.

RWe always enjoy the rides, even when we think conditons are shitty at the time, the next day when remembering what we went thru, how terrible it was, it turn's out we had a good time.
All credit goes to PLUG for being the one who get's the ideas and get's the ball rolling. I'm just the 'yes man' whose arm is easily twisted to go anywhere solong as it wont cost an arm or leg in entry fees or accommidation. Without PLUG i'd never see anything away from the main dirt roads and passes.:niceone:

Well I'm glad that you had a good day.
We that is Green Meanie and I had a ride near you guys, to check out some new area's as well.

Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread so I'll be brief on our trip of 6 1/2 hours and 170 odd K's ride.

Turned up the Ashley River from the Waikuku Bridge on the north side.

Then up the Okuku River West side up to the Gorge Rd and turned West.

Turned back towards the Ashley and ended up going up the Garry River.
It has a bit of a track but the middle bit was gone, thick bush and soft river bed and water, thanks to a GPS and guess work we found our way out to the Gorge Rd again, because we were tired and time we went to Oxford to top up the tanks.

So then down the Eyre River to Downs Rd? when across to the Waimak River to use the tracks we know and love.

To have both of us crash on the same gravel hill one after the other, 5K's from the end.
I slipped down and low sided and Green Meanie laughed and then tried and tipped his bike up side down and we had a bit of fun getting it back the right up as it was tangled in a tree. He may have hit the tree and thats why he got tipped up side down.
Both got home shattered and sore.

We will check it out again and as a group ride it would only be good for trail bikes (no big toy's) and would have to be ridden fast with very little and quick stops.
We only stopped to catch breath and quickly check the map, GPS and a mouth full of food and then off, 5 minutes absolute max.

Well I see the 950 superenduro has been for a run bit it is still in Superiors. Given nobody else has asked - do tell is it is the SE or something else?

Went to DAS for a filter and oil and noticed a dejebel in there. Interesting what you can find when wandering around town at lunchtime :innocent:

Pics of the 650 tonight (hopefully) before and during the investigations of the starter torque limiting gear. Heres hopping is actually a 97.

It's a bit of a sore point what happened, but someone bought it from under me.:angry2: and thats all I'm saying about it
