GSXR750 shock into a 1200 BanditS

I have just fitted a 2004 GSXR750 rear shock into my 1200 K1 Bandit, It has improved the handling heaps, I should have done it ages ago.
It makes the bike track better, and feels much more predictable/precise in the corners, and there is far more setting adjustment, ie if you are riding two up, it takes a few seconds to firm it up. I recommend it.

Nice work. The rear shock is the only real achillies heel on the bandit, other than that restrictive standard exhaust!

It's a good mod to do on a Bandit. I grafted a K4 Gixxer shock into my Gen 1 Bandit, had to re-spring it though and it worked a real treat. At around 20,000ks the front went a bit soft so I resprung that with Eibach springs (though progressive are also good) and fitted a "gold valve" kit.

How much did you have to cut back the lower lip of the battery box to get the reservoir to fit? I have a 2002 GSXR750 shock for my K1 but it looks like its going to be a fairly tight fit at the top end.

I also found this useful shock data sheet when searching for dimension information.

Yeah, I have a Scorpion Can, and the jets have been done, so with the new shock shes a reliable good handling, torquey, little rocket

yeah, the good rear does now show up the front a bit, I guess that will be next?

I didnt need to cut the battery box back at all, the only thing I needed to do was cut off the left clip on the air filter housing, the reservoir on the shock misses it by about 5mm, the shock I got from Shaun measured 40mm vertically above the extreme top of the shock to the top of the reservoir, it would pay to check this on your shock first, before fitting, see my notes on Bandit Alley website "Suspension" for all the tech stuff

The top of the reservoir on my one also appears to be about 40mm above the top of the shock so hopefully it will also fit with the same sort of clearance. Thanks.
