Just come back from a long weekend in wellington.
First time in the capital.
Have to say I liked it. Reminded me a bit of parts of Central London and Galway, if you've been to all 3 places you might see what I mean.
I flew done on friday morning, had the whole day to myself to wander around.
Was really impressed by the amount of bikes parked up on the streets, and not just any old shite. Saw 3 dukes, an RSV aprillia, several BMWs and the usually collection of fine jap metal, all in good nick and looking very shiny. More quality bikes then you see in Auckland in the average work day for sure, and you'd never see such expensive bikes parked up like that here.
I'm guessing bike theft isn't an issue judging by the lack of security measures in place.
Add to that, a good half hour spent inspecting the Britten whilst the missus went around the constuble exhibition (to packed for me), and the pristine Douglas in the maritime museum, I had a good bike oogling filled weekend.
The fine dining only added to the experience, next time I'll bring the bike and get to see more then the CBD, although the constant state of drunkeness would have rendered any 2 wheeled activity obsolete on this occassion.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay in Wellington. I have a soft spot for the city as it's easy to get around and there are some great shops and restaurants. Where did you go for dinner?

cafe bastille, boulcott street bistro, was going to do logan brown - but thought I'd save that for a special occassion instead as its meant to be great.

hmmmmm, I think I'd find it a little claustrophobic after awhile - but then again I'm a big city boy even auckland seems small to me at times.

Why was Ronald McDonald being driven around in the back of a police car in your home town yesterday?

Yeah, don't be fooled into a false sense of security. Bike theft in Wellywood is just as bad if not worse than Auckland.

The best people come from Welly.
They have the best restaurants, the best museum, the biggest rip-off Zoo, it's just a shame about the Southerlies.

I'm feeling the love Lou. But this means we can never meet...I'd hate to be the one to change your opinion of the Welly peeps.

I don't know either. All I know is I stopped at the McDs in Levin on tuesday around 12:30-1:00pm and this police car rolls past me with him in the back. Wish I had my camera, would have made a hell of a picture. lol.
