Hi,
Glad to have found this awesome site. I've made a few posts so though I better introduce myself.
I'm an 'old' new biker - just got a learner licence and picked up a great little RG150. Where I grew up you took a 50cc licence (yep - you had to sit a test a get it) at 15. Handy as you couldn't drive until 18. At school in the mid-80s everyone had 50cc bikes - mopeds with pedals, scooters and even some guys with race rep. 50cc apprillias (or bought as 50cc anyway ... ) The best thing about the yamaha salient scooter I had longest was that the footplate was the exact size for a crate of beer. Pulled over on the way to parties a bit, but was not breaking any laws (lucky never pulled over on the way home!) I went through various mopeds and ended up on a Suzuki TSX50 dirt bike that was not 50cc anymore (it has been used for beach racing and was modified somewhat). It was pretty cool (until the oil pump went ...) In '89 a Golf GTI trashed me in the back and wrote of the vespa I was riding. Nice. Rode in London a few years more after that but then hadn't been on a bike since '91.
Spent the last 4 yrs. commuting on a mountain bike from the Waitaks into Queen st. and realised I am getting to old! Always fancied biking again and decided to take the plunge. Felt mentally prepared for the Auckland traffic though as bikes are treated like dirt - esp. by the bus drivers you share a lane with.
Read some great advice on here so far - and some funny stuff - so thanks for the great site.

Welcome to the ........I've no idea what to call it - forum/site is too accurate madhouse - too predictable.

Oh well - just welcome - there are quite a few of us old new riders.

Time for the monkey tea party already? Nice to see you are back in the motorbike riding saddle again! Hope you been loving it and keeping it rubber side down - and yeah, watch out for those dopey cagers looking to say "I didn't see you" while you're flat on your back

Enjoy your ride and remember to transfer your Asphalt Angel from the pushie to your new ride! :sunny: :scooter:

Nice to meet you all.
The dopey cager that trashed me back then actually said "sorry, I was looking at a car pulling out and not ahead". He then attempted to sue me for dangerous driving! The police report put the official accident down to 96% his blame, 4% my blame (never figured out what I was meant to have done), which luckily meant for the lcoal insurance that as his blame was not 100% my insurance co. didn't have to pay out a penny as I was under 25!
Ah, the laughs I had ...
