I've had my eye on this for a couple of months, has been relisted a number of times - any comments? I notice the ding in the frame is "a fall from it's stand" but aren't they all on trade me.
Proxy link for those who can't access trademe from work:

Oh the peer pressure....
The auction closes tomorrow - did you manage to find out what the reserve price was when you checked it out Sarge?

Knew a guy that had one - did some big numbers on it and reckoned it was the mutz nutz.. Hard to sell though - sort of yesterdays hero thing..

Go the bike... the eyes will still need work in a month or three, but the bike'll be gone too soon... I'd be fine with SARGE'S recommendation too... he's not getting commission on this one

True
I've read a few reviews which say it's heavy but the spec's I've looked at put it at about 200kg dry, which seems normal doesn't it? Also not sure how much it's worth - the buy now must be more than reserve.

i think it was $6500 when i looked at it a month ago ..
that is a MUCH better bike than the FZR1000.. in its day .. it was made as a direct competitor to the 'Blade without all the ghey-ness ( sorry Fireblade owners.. ive always been a Big Bore Yammy guy at heart..)
more on the sports side of sport-touring .. heavy bike but stable as hell in a corner.. ( about 200 kg or so ) 145 crank HP.. 110 Nm 5 valve head
ACE STUFF (http://www.molinu.org/yamaha_yzf1000r_thunderace.html)
one of the best all-rounders on the market
if i wasnt so chuffed with the FJ.. that would be in my shed.. (and the fact that ive spent more souping the FJ up than i bought it for..)

Is it worth getting one of those checks to make sure there's no money owing on it (can't remember what they're called)?

ghey-ness is in the eye of the beholder:dodge: oh well wont hold that ya ride a yamaha against ya :innocent: but i do think its a good buy  even the old fj is a good long range bike just comes down to what ya feel more comfy on :done:

Took one for a test ride after selling my Thundercat, really really wanted one of those but settled for the Triumph instead, you wont be dissapointed in the Thunderace if you get it for that price......
bert_is_evil

The Triumph must have been more expensive? That's a really nice bike

Um, a little more than the Yamaha... which from memory was around $10,995 and the Triumph i paid $12,450, so around $1500 diff but and the end of the day i didnt matter, i got what i wanted, thats why, if you can pick that Yamaha up for the 'buy now' price or less...do it! cos' they still sell for $9-10k
