Jeez the cost :gob:
Need to change my front tyre so I thought about changing both BT014's for something else. Nothing wrong with the Bridgestone's, some like em, some hate them, just fancy a change and I'd rather get a new set and keep the BT014 rear as an emergency back up. Contacted a few orkland shops for some prices and suggestions and this is what they came up with.
Might help a few of you considering new rubber if nothing else - Lou don't look, your prices are the most expensive!!
Prices based on a 120/70 17 front and a 180/55 17 rear
AMPS: Prices do not include fitting to bike
Pilot Power - $573.00 inc.
Metz M3 - $667.00 inc.
Conti Sport Attack - $608.00 inc.
Metzeler Z6 - $692.00 inc.
Conti Road Attack - $608.00 inc.
Haldanes: Prices do not include fitting to bike
Michelin Pilot Sports - $449
Dunlop 208RR - $599
Metzler Racetech - as used by Craig Sherriffs for a couple of races $250
Motohaus: Prices include fitting
Conti Sport Attacks - $549.00
Avon Vipers - $549.00 ($515 via tinternet)
Colemans: Price includes fitting
Conti Sport Attacks - $530.00
Botany Honda:
Metzeler Z6 - $547 fitted
Pirelli Diablo Strada - $585 fitted
Michelin Pilot Road - $445 fitted
Going to get the Sport Attacks and see what they're like

interesting price difference in the sport attacks between stores
and just prices in general, i know how much a friend got a set of attacks for wholesale, which is huge difference than prices quoted.

And what price did Cycletreads quote you? Did you mention you are on KB *hint*...

For the prices that don't include fitting, how much was that?
Does fitting also include balancing?
Hmm, I hope my tyres won't cost anywhere near that!
Wholesale!? Where can we get wholesale tyres from?

Haven't come back to me!
However their website quotes approx $574 for the Strada's and $608 for the Pilot Powers!! They are doing a trade-in on your old tyres with upto $100 off. Still not as good a deal as Coleman's Conti's.

You need to go into the store personally, give the salesperson a swift punch in the cunt and tell them that you want a good deal. Then you should be able to find some powers or M3's for about $500 fitted. You rarely get a good deal over the phone.

What the website says and what KB get are different. As Devil says, go in and talk turkey with them. I have been in a few times and got a great deal every time!
Take a ride over and see them!!!!!

Ask yourself, do you honestly need such super racey rubber? If you honestly don't buy the Pilot Sports. They're a great tyre, and will give you better mileage than the super sticky options. Just a thought :)

Hey PM 'Nicko', he has a stack of rubber that'll fit your bike from his race bike, hardly used (only a couple of races a set) and he's keen to off-load it for a fair price as it won't fit his 675. Worth a look before you shell out for some brand new stuff, and you'd be funding his new race season, which is a good cause!!!!!!
I've picked a few bits up off him for my gixxer, he's a good guy, tell him I sent ya.

my Strada's cost $470 fitted 8 months ago...
I think it was Lou warning that the price of rubber was going to result in significantly more expensive tyres sooner rather than later - (obviously AMPS have taken the warning to heart!)

A set of Bridgestone BT39SS to suit your FXR would be around $280 if my memory serves me correctly. Went through two sets on my old FXR and they're the shit - didn't last too long but stuck like glue.
Always dealt with cycletreads and they're good guys who often give you a damn good deal if you go into them and ask them to sort you out with a good price. My set of M3's fitted and balanced came to $550 - that was about 3.5 months ago.

AMPS price are still at, or under, RRP. But I have discussed the differences with management.
The others are discounting the guts out of them. Good on them, but you can't survive forever by doing that. (Unless you sell an awful lot of tyres.)

how long do these tyres last for on these big bikes? I complain enought that I have to payout $200 a tire and go through one every six months. (9-10000km) $5-600 a tire and I would be paying more on tires per year than what I paid for the bike.

Ok, on my GSX1400 I average 3500-4000kms per rear tyre. The last metzler Z6 rear was $390.00. The front averages around 6500-7,000kms and the last one cost me $265.00. :(
Darn good tyres though. Anything stickier and I would need a bucket to pick up the rubber behind me and reglue it to the tyres. Oh, I don't do burnouts either.

Got offered a great deal at Motohaus on a set of Conti Attacks, but something isn't right and Kerry can't seem to get hold of em. So I got fed up waiting, rode up to Cycletreads this lunchtime and came out with a set of Pilot Powers for a 'special on the day as yer here' deal:banana:
Top marks to Cycletreads and I know, I know you told me so.

I have found that I can try all the other shops in Auckland but the guys at Cycletreads always have the best prices and they fit them to the bike.
They also have the most tyres so I always can check what the options are.
These guys have got more selection than the rest of the shops put together.
Thanks guys for good prices and great service.
