The Great KB Treasure Hunt

We all remember going to Birthday parties as children and hunting for crunchie bars, bags of lollies and other shit that rots your teeth. Now it is time to revive those feelings of childhood bliss and combine them with the next best thing to sex - riding a motorcycle.

Essentially I want to encourage...

Safe Speeds - 'cos the Cops will probably pay attention
Competition between individuals and groups
Learner friendly environment - so long as you can ride on the open road
The old farts on KB who avoid most KB rides - 'cos they have cool stories and good advice

This will happen some time when I have my license back and the weather outlook is a bit better, you know the blue sky sunny days with hot chicks roaming the east coast towns like Mangawhai and Orewa.

I have more to add, but would be good to see the amount of interest in this.

Will plan for freebies, prizes and arrange food at a more outdoor end of ride 'eat and drink' location. There is that Hungi on Wheels dude up Wellsford way, so there is an option, but plenty of others.

We can peer up with friends on bikes or bring the wife or one of the ankle biters on the back to help with the clues...

Commence discussion...

P.S. I'm not allowed another pie ride until I lose 10 kgs. So Pie Ride 2 is going to be a while away.

1st October or some shit.

I said to my girlfriend today "I'm going outside"

"where to" she says "to the garage"

"what for?" she asks "to sit on my bike"

"oh thats sad" :buggerd:

One of the prizes will be some time with a lady (or man, if you swing that way) at Femme Fetal or Mustangs.

That should get some interest.

So long as that prize doesn't go to one of the ankle biters!

It's not going to be on the 1st, that is when I get my license back. It will more likely be mid to late October or whenever is suitable around then - and on a Sunday.

Possibly, if fish and chips (plus burgers and whatever else they sell) is the consensus then we'll go with that and I'll organise everything and make it happen.

Hungi was just a suggestion as the guy can come to where ever we are and people can buy whatever they want on the spot.

$1.70 Chips + 1 Hoki Fish + 1 Spring Roll is the best feed known to man.

I had it suspended for speeding, or so the officer claims !! :spanking:

Awesome! it looks like there is a healthy amount of interest in this ride so I'll continue planning it. Realistically for it to be worthwhile there needs to be at least 10 - 15 bikes there (based on the assumption that most of these bikes will have pillions, making that a total of 20 - 30 people) however the more people the merry.

Shit that still needs figuring out

Do people want food to be brought to the end of ride location?
If not brought to them, do they want to have a suitable "route bypass" where they can acquire food?
Out of towners - some people from less fortunate places than Auckland (i.e. Wellington, Hamilton) have expressed interest, does anyone wanna offer accomodation? I would but we only have a small place at the moment, so its the couch or share the end of our bed with the dog
What time is too early? Meet time will be about 8:30 AM in the morning to give us a good crack at the day, the earlier the start the longer the ride and the more shit talking is possible
Once we've done the food thing it is mandatory that Puhoi pub is the next stop before home

Got an excellent meeting place in Albany in mind, it will cater for up to 100 bikes or more (not that there will be that many). It's right off the motorway and puts us within 5 minutes of the country roads we'll be traversing.

If we are all going to behave (i.e. not exceed 120 ... ish ... just cruisey 110 stuff or less) then how about inviting the police bikes to the meeting place!

Just an idea to make it a bit more proactive.

Might even be able to do sausages on bread for breakfast at the meeting place to raise some money for spanky doodle. But we'll see ... throw some suggestions at me.

Sounding good Taxi man, we have sleep stalls here if anyone needs to bed down for a night.....:zzzz:
Suggested speeds are ok too, dont mind riding in 3rd......
Depending on where the ride goes, food stop could at Mangawhai pub, heaps of parking, and nice out the back if the :sunny: is out, sheltered if it aint, just a thought?

I've got a spare room swampy.

I don't know if I'll do the ride though as the overzealous pigs up that way will probably ticket me for wearing the wrong underpants.

Speeds are just that ... a suggestion ... I'm not telling anyone how to ride, however Rodney = Pingsville ! And we will be staying the fuck away from Old North Road, I'm sure its cursed. That road has cost me more money than any other leisure activity I have indulged in.

Never been to Mangawhai pub, what are their kitchen bitches like, do they cook fast? Sounds like a good destination, will check it out.

Piss off, I was educated Maori style (aka I never went to school :2thumbsup )

EDIT: Sorry Str8 I didn't answer your question. I'm a mongrel like you, European mother and Maori father. Now I understand why you go around telling everyone that you'll punch them in the face, it must be that warrior domestic violence gene.

Hmm, what sort of punishment would have I received should I not of been let off? Don't mind a bit of :spanking: :Pokey:

Anyway ...

No confirmed date yet, it is really good to see the healthy interest, this will be a good ride and if the weather of late is anything to go by it is going to be a ripper.

So far so good

We have a suitable meeting place
Breakfast available at the meeting point
A route in mind, this will last approximately 2 - 3 hours
We will stop for lunch somewhere - quite possibly the Mangawhai Pub ... ah the road out to Mangawhai is sex
Resume route to an end of ride location for prizes and shit talking - approximately 1 - 2 hours of riding
Leave end of ride location for Puhoi Pub if others wish to join

So in summary, thus far:

Meet from 8:00 am onwards, breakfast available (sausages on bread) until 8:45 am ish, explain what is happening from then until about 9:00 am and then be away from the meeting place by 9:15 am ish - 9:30 at the very latest. We'll be riding all morning until approximately 12 noon when we'll meet again at the lunch stop. Spend about 1 - 1 and a half hours eating and then head off again for the end of ride location which should put us there between 3PM and 4PM. Spend about 30 - 45 minutes doing shit there and then head over to the Puhoi pub arriving around 5 - 5:30pm.

A whole day event for sure.

The good thing about this is that we won't be in a big bunch like a group ride and not everyone is going to take the exact same route. Depending on how you solve the clues this will put you on different routes. Teaming up with a friend(s) is a good idea.

So I hope eveyone has a good idea on how it'll work. Won't be your average KB ride.
