Honda Motor Co Ltd said it will spend 17 billion Yen on a new production line for mid- and large-sized motorbikes within the site of its Kumamoto plant – which will be converted into the main plant for the manufacture of automatic transmission systems for cars.
The new production line, which will become operational after 2008, will have the capacity to make 600,000 mid- and large-sized motorbikes annually.
Honda produced 389,000 small- and mid-sized motorbikes at the Kumamoto plant in the year to March 2006.
