Ok, Ive been working in the Teleivision Industry for a wee while, and have always wanted to put a real Kiwi bike rider programe on tv.

So Im looking for like minded riders who would like to be part of this.

I have had a meeting with a local tV channel that have a sister channel in Wellington, and as i helped build this channel they will help out with airtime and production equipment.
The programe would also be availabe for broadcast in other regional channels.

So anyone with a handycam in any part of NZ who wants to get invovled and have a bit of fun, pm me.

Will give you a call tomorrow.

If you are all legit, I am willing to give it my best and prepare a professional job. I don't mind the camera. As I said I've been planning on something similar anyway.

I'd be prepared to help out any way I can. Was in the film crew at school and did a short course with South Seas, so have some background (admittedly years ago now).

Sing out if there is anything I can do, anything that raises the profile of bikes in NZ is all good by me.

What are we talking here - Triangle Television?

CBR97
22nd September 2006, 10:18
Triangle Television yes, they are broadcasting in wellington aswell, I worked there from the begining and left after 4 years, I was on the board of Directors, Ive been wanting to do this for at least 7 years, and feel that now would be the right time to get it off the ground, Triangle offers a lot more freedom , eg we dont lose editorial control, and get the freedom to experiment. i know all the pit falls with regoinal television, There is programe sharing within the regoinal network, or the ability to buy airtime to reach other area,s of NZ.
If the major networks like what they see, you never now were it can lead, also with the TV nz free View Satilite network to be lauched soon, maybe the oppertunity to supply true kiwi content , Its not an easy project, but Im sure if the support from the riding community this will get off the ground,

Triangle Television yes,

When SBS first started in Oz my friend Cal did some hosting and I wrote dribble - our standard line was - this is great - if we f*ck up nobody will see it'.
It was great experience and a barrel of laffs.
I have good resources with my gigs. I'm listening.

I'd be keen to help out as long as the whole thing isn't some sort of ghost rider re run featuring sports bikes streaking around cars and dragging improbable bits of their anatomy all over the road. There are a heap of people spluttering about on old bikes, ripping up the dirt, potato potatoing about on Harleys and even ring a ding dinging about on mini choppers... Takes all sorts....

Actually - if you want to make an interesting documentary, the Pukekohe Classic festival of speed would have to be one of THE motorcycle events in the southern hemisphere and very filmable

Especially if the show is called "When Bike's Bite Back"

I have a Sony DVR-TRV 950 or something or other...takes pretty darn good footage.

I'm really keen for the Cliffhanger Hillclimb in March 07 to be aired on TV - raise the profile.

I'm filming the Wairarapa Sprints on Sunday as well if that is any good to you. (I'm an amateur BTW)

What about a Top Gear equivalent for bikes....plenty of Welly Crew who are fairly articulate, but can also spin some BS into the mix.

Ben Dover boy :spanking:

If you want to actually see how camera unfriendly I am, I will be on Filth Files at some stage...maybe the next lot of episodes. I did a clip for Top Shelf, showing one aspect of my job.

There is so much that can be flimed, i would like that all sectors of the NZ riding sence is invovled, i see a 30 min programe to begin with, if you know television you know why i say this,
It will take a group of us to make it a interesting programe, and some hard work, but it can be done in a way us as community want to have on our televisions..

I don't have that handy cam but I think it'd be interesting to show people what it's like to split through Auckland MW traffic.

On the downside I can see that starting a very big, loud conversation about splitting and having the cops clamp down on it for a bit.

Maybe show a few near misses and reinforce the whole "look out for bikes" campaign.

Make sure there's footage of a 500 filling up too.... ooo look... 400km for $20... not bad! LOL

Good stuff.

I've got some footage of the charity ride that was on when Charlie Borham was here. I was hanging of the back of Bugjuice's bike filming, I can send you a DVD of that if you wanna take a look.

I have no experience, no handy cam and no real idea of what I'm volunteering for, but if you can use someone who can write well and research well, and has experience in public speaking I'm your guy. What sort of time commitment will this be? Are we talking about a job or a hobby?

No experience? you ride a motorbike, so your experienced,
For this to work well we will need people with different skills , a writer , web design, Presentor, maybe 2. etc. etc.

So it is up to us to get involved, I dont see a lot of money being made, but you never know, Id rather work at haveing it pay for it self, through adverts, and if there is enough interest maybe a major advertiser can have naming rights and pay for the full production,
Im perpared to put alot of my own time into this and make this work, but many hands make light work.
