I don't know whether the short news articles about Ford's new cars aired in NZ on TV. Not picking on anyone, but Ford USA have announced that they are now manufacturing automobliles to cater specifically for the "larger" driver, with improved ergonomics. This is due to the US having such a high population that are overweight /obese.

A bit off topic but every time my wife's work has a fire drill, staff have to beat an obese lady to the doors and stairwell or they get stuck behind her cause she is slow and they can't get past her for her size. Obviously un-pc to raise the fact that she is too fat - I suggested it be raised as a 'speed' issue.

You know what will happen in a real fire though - fatty will get pushed over and trampled - fair enough too. I wouldn't burn to death because of some fat lazy cow - unless it's a medical reason, obesity is just laziness.

What is wrong is they completly remove the ability of parent to feed their kids what they want, with lunch box checks to ensure compliance, all cause the little maori kids are getting fat on KFC and getting diabetes......

I mean if you have a fit and healthly kid there aint nothing wrong with the occasional treat in the lunch box, tubby on the other hand might not need it, but good parenting should not be overruled by teachers

Old stuff that - my '66 Thunderbird has 'lectric everything (even 1/4 windows) and the steering wheel swivels in away from the door so a XXXOS sized driver can get out.

its not just a US problem.. head out to any market on the weekends and you get trapped between 4 rhino's at the hot dog stand.

i went to that Avondale market last weekend .. went to get a hot dog.. got in front of a couple of HUGE women.. got my dog .. turned around, was confronted with a wall of blubber.. i lowered my head and went for it ,,

when i broke into daylight my hotdog was gone and i had bite marks on my arms ...

if you compare McDonalds and the everyday Kiwi pie and chips .. i bet that McDonalds will look like a Tofu Salad

Went to the IGA the other day and saw two cows that looked like Andy Capp's missus - both of them! Couldn't get past them down the isles. I had to walk away as I was going burst out laughing thay looked tragically comical.

Aussies have water buffalos wandering the streets. Even the kids. An american friend whose a professional body builder told me how her father got a ticket in the US. He ran into the back of a parked car, driving slowly. When the cops arrived, he showed them the cause. It was a reallly fat woman who was stuck in the door of her car and couldn't get out. The cop who also had a look, pissed himself laughing, and let him off with "I totally understand! Have a good day Sir."

Now you see why they're making cars with wider doors. Over here they're going to pay people to loose weight.
