it had a broken cam chain, no major cause it broke at idle, so I pulled the head off with theories about straightening the (slightly) bent exhaust valve, but as soon as I used the spring compressor this happened

still, better now than at 7000 rpm , who knows where I can get an exhaust valve from?
Also I found a random chain link stuck to the magnets on the alternator, I isnt a match for the cam chain, I suspect it is from the balancer chain, as there is a spare sprocket on the crank, but there is no sign of the chain by looking down the cam chain tunnel, I figure it would have taken a while for the chainlink to find its way to the alternator (presuming it even belongs to this engine, someone has been here before me and put silicon under the copper washers on the head studs???? wtf??? why would you do that?) my Q is do I really need the balancer? can I get away without it, or will the bike shake itself to pieces??
