Yes, offramp for Oteha valley road is the one after Greville Rd. Dont miss it otherwise you'll be stuck on the mway till silverdale!
Turn left (obviously towards the stadium) as for which car park. I'm not clear on that one yet, but there's not normally too many people around at that time on a sunday, so I'll be riding around till I find the right one!

thanks for the outing maha, twas an interesting tiki tour, the wet roads and loose gravel all add to the skills.anyone else think menu was a bit pricey($20 for chicken salad)?
went down 16 on the way home,no cops and mostly dry roads, best part of the day riding wise

If that wasn't an interesting ride home...
Left the group at Wellsford and went 16, tucked up behind a Mazda 6 sedan for a long time (thought it might have been that cop out there) till he started crossing centrelines, so I went past him. Had a by and large clear run so got to maintain some nice speed...
Turned off up somewhere, went past a car, up next was a courier's van... cept he didn't like the idea of me going past... que a courier van doing 140-150 so I couldn't pass (bandit stops pulling hard around there)...
Eventually we came to a tight right hander where he wobbeled all over the show, went up on three wheels, plenty of tiresmoke and was lucky not to end up in a ditch the stupid prick, went past while showing my appreciation...
Onto Old North road through some lovely twisties, overtook a landrover coming out of a corner onto a straight... coming over back to my side of the road hit a really rough patch of seal which punctured my rear tyre making the next few corners really, really interesting... so I pulled over, and my poor bike went home on a trailer :(

Great day out, weather could have been better but you get that. We had a great ride back down 16 not a cop in sight, not that we were exceeding the speed limit. All in all a good day and have to agree the most expensive salad I've had in a while.

Yup, happened to the three of us as well :( - luckily one of us knew the way to the next meeting point.

Last week I had the same toasted s/w at Kiauwa (spelling?) f n c shop and it was $2.50, paid $5.00 for it today.

Thanks to Mr and Mrs maha man for a great ride today, was an interesting ride for me riding with a rear tyre that had a slow leak every chance I got I would stop and put more air in. most of the trip would have been done with about 25 psi tyre pressure, was OK untill cornering and with the wind made for a very interesting ride.

:msn-wink: Thanks for organising a great ride maha man (+ Mrs maha) and thanks for your great company. It was a change of scenery and a change of company to the coro loop and the ornery looking usual suspects from down south (ok Korn you are excepted). A good sensible riding pace on a wettish sort of a day with no bins or frights. Big ups to the Rozzer who had the front to pitch up at the meet and give us a friendly briefing. So scumdog you are not alone when it comes to being not a bad sort of a cop. Good skills ZRXer for giving him a friendly introduction. Those that know Steve will agree he wouldn't have exactly looked like Santa Claus dressed in leather as he strolled across the carpark and stuck his head in the cops window.
I continue to marvel over the power of the internet and its ability to get like minded people together from all walks of life to share knowledge, share their common interests and, most importantly, to socialise.
And finally , Julie you are one plucky young lady who is not only brave in your life but bloody brave jumping onto the back of an old Helensville Hoons bike..! Hah yeah I just wasn't too sure how spirited to get with the riding. Sorta tried to keep it somewhere between a Sunday drive and a full blown Coro Loop. Couldn't have yer yawning all the way around yet I didn't want to beat you up and put you off KB rides and bikes forever either.
Even though he's a mate of mine, I can't help but be impressed with Blairos (blue VTR 250). Six months ago he had never even sat on a bike and I am sure that those who attended yesterday can attest to his polished performance and good road riding skill. It even puts us old fellas to shame a bit.
Blairos and I were trialling a well priced Bike to Bike communication as well. Its the old style Pinfold system that he is flogging on Tardme fo $20. We had a couple of UHF sets we got cheap from Jaycar and, apart from the first set of batteries being a bit cheap and not lasting, it worked a treat even with ear plugs in. We were still getting excellent communication up to 120 KPH (oops) and the range was fine for a normal group ride. We intend to use the system between 3 bikes on a south Island trip we are planning in Feb next year. $63 sees each individual setup with helmet speakers, microphone and push to talk button and a radio. A good deal I reckon

He did the standard road safety delivery. Thats what they pay him to do. He then showed a human side and offered some realistic advice on how to avoid getting nicked for speeding. He also flashed his lights at me to slow down from XXX Km's through the dome valley. We need more like him. Not for letting us get away with it, but for understanding what we do a bit more.

hey spank, can you set up kiwirapist.co.nz, kiwiburglar.co.nz and kiwidealer.co.nz and the pigs can fuck off and watch those sites for criminal activity.
they're not very good at looking for other evidence so give the dogs a bone or two.

Hey thanks to the Maha's for organising the ride it was a good one DMNTD was living up to his name. I agree Bruce, Blair certainly has come on in leaps and bounds and was setting a good pace on the VTR. was good to meet up with the Maha's and the Busa's at last fuckin good folk.
Stoked that you made Steve, love that Gold Triple mate....
we sprung a couple of blokes shagging in broad daylight in the front seat of their car..! QUOTE]
So Texmo and Magua did turn up?.... albiet a little late....
[QUOTE=busa pete;788807]Not a good start to the day when mr plod waits at both meeting points but luckly that was the only place they where apart from dome valley. Big thanks to mrs maha for not feeding maha man before the ride this made for a faster pace to lunch. good to catch up with every one and meet some new faces. thanks to liam and old guy for some wicked photos of us on the road. Good day alround although trip back to poihu was a little slower as mr maha man had lunch which seamed to slow him down some mind you he did come in before chris. Thanks team maha for another great ride.
We totally enjoyed the day, yes, even the verbal jibe's at the Puhoi......:2thumbsup Chris and us were the last to leave and im sure he has wings cos' he was online an hour later....as for the trip back?... after a bowl of chips and two toasted sandwiches and two Corubas, all i was thinking of was a toilet stop and refuel at Wellsford....

You guys actually got flashed by the cop near the dome?
Weren't there like at least 4 cars prior to that that flashed their lights warning a cop ahead?

He was traveling behind about 4 cars..... they didn't flash, he flashed me as my front end nose dived with heavy braking. Didin't realise it was him untill somone told me later.

The ride out to Muriwai was interesting, riding a long I came across Crashe, I couldn't pass her she gave me the learn and when we got to the twistie bits she gapped me, got the lean from a woman on a 250cruiser not going to live that one down.:weep:
New rear tyre is in order, open the garage this morning bike is setting on the rim.
at lest I made the ride.

cheers for the ride guys. Was good fun, tucker was pretty good up at mangawhai. Enjoyed chilling out towards the back of the group two up. Pity about the gravel on the mangawhai road should be good for later in summer though.
