Great Dave. Brought back memories. Just about got motion sickeness watching it:motu: The top video played right through ok, but the bottom one went to a green screen part way through:blink:

His name is Cathie. She was on the ride - the two dicks partly on the wrong side of the road in their cars were more of a worry.

thanks - my pleasure.

Only trouble may encounter is that they are such large files I run out of bandwidth allocation and they 404 eventually.

why not upload them to youtube, then embed the youtube file on your site (all code is provided by youtube) would mean the video would better quality, and not so much load on your bandwidth allocation

How does it make better vid quality?
That is determined when I make the file innit?

Ah fair enough! I'll e-mail it instead to a couple of people I know who are thinking about coming over here for a two wheel holiday.

gamgee might have the answer anyway - investigating.

Adds:
I'll have to change the soundtracks to comply with TOS - shame - but I will put some of my music on them and be legal. Not nealy as good but.
but seems the way to go. watch this space.

Outstanding vids Dave. Particularly enjoyed the ride up the Coro Hill as our bach is only 4 km from the start of the hilll and that could have been me on a Sunday morning.:2thumbsup Drop in for a bit of refreshment any time you're up there.

Well, i'm assuming whats on your website is somewhat compressed from the original file, the way I understand it, you basically upload the original file to youtube, they compress it into their format and then host it free of charge, I just meant it'll be bigger than the ones you've got on your website at the moment.

and turns them into flash files for the nav too - this was with a smaller file.

!! large files - needs quicktime.Great stuff Dave, thoroughly enjoyed watching those and following rider (yourself?) through some familiar roads. They certainly give a good impression of what the Loop is like, but there's nothin' like the real thing!

When I first arrived in this country I couldn't understand why roads could not be built straight and true and why a "2 hr" trip up north took 5 1/2 hrs with plenty of green faces in the back seat.

Then I bought a bike - and suddenly it all makes sense. The old road builders of yore were bikers! Life's a journey, enjoy the ride :2thumbsup

Cool - I sussed how to embed them and make the pages work on my site:

http://www.davidcohen.co.nz/vids/first.html

but no sound.

To beat the copyright snags I made/played some sound tracks (garage band is fabulous!) which work on the you tube page:
Reduce the size to beat the camera shake.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_sJ82ZNFgM

but nada on the embedded vids.

Same on windows machines?

Very nice Dave and smooth lines. You definately have a bit of knack for web design as well, although I could have sworn the first time I saw it you had Bic Runga as the music?

Cherrs, I did - was playing on my ipod at the time, I didn't think it was a big issue with copyright on my site - no commercial interests etc - but used original music for you tube otherwise they say they will yank it.

Doesn't seem to play if embedded anyway - if you click on the movie it will open on the you tube page and the sound is there - nothing in their help files aboot why it does that.

Doesn't seem to play if embedded anyway Yeah does work sweet on my machine through firefox. Also works using IE7 RC1 through firefox's 'ietab' extension.

Mac issue?

Flash player issue? - I got no sound on the embedded vids in safari either - yet I do on the you tube site.

Just checked it on the G4 - OS9.2 - IE and works fine

Firefox - OS 10.4.4 and G5 = nada sound.

Weird.

Some of the guitar is Hippie too, some mine, some prefab.
I played most of the synths and brass on my computer keyboard and had this whole Rick Wakeman trip happening - had to be there.
Amazing bit of software for dicking around with sounds. That lot represents about 4 hours play.
Some of the endings have gone a bit wonky in translation too :(

YouTube will save you on bandwidth but its a pain to upload anything to them...

The file size has to be under 100MB, and less than 10 minutes playing time. Also has to be a certain movie format (.mov is fine... don't know what the other ones off the top of my head).

Takes forever to load up to thier site though... My vid I uploaded was less than 3 minutes long and it took me 35 minutes to upload using broadband at work...

Edit: Opps... you've already done it.... ignore above post...
