does anyone know if a 1996 gsxr1100wt motor would fit into a 1993 1100wp frame?

Cajun
28th September 2006, 08:11
yes should fit.
watch out some of later models engines were resticted but (mostly by carbs)

knight rider
28th September 2006, 10:51
can I take the carbs off the 1993 motor & put them on the 1996 motor?

knight rider
28th September 2006, 10:58
how much are they ristricted 2?

Cajun
28th September 2006, 11:00
yep carbs of 93 will work

not to sure, iknow some of them were restricted, was more just 'washers' put in headers and carbs, was something like 110hp or something silly like that not to sure off top of my head, i use to have a 96 gsxr1100wt

knight rider

was the 1996 wt model restricted?

Cajun
28th September 2006, 11:13
mine was not was putting out 130hp @ rw when had it on dyno.

but i know some are.

Bit of you just doing engine, use your current carbs and pipe you shouldn't have a problem

knight rider

yeah might grab the engine from corsa is Auckland to replace my broken one. So should fit but I should take the carbs off the 1993 & put on the 1996. any other things I can do to get max hp? Thanks

"pipe"? exhaust??

roogazza

was the 1996 wt model restricted?

As far as i know the Aussie jobs had the 40mm carbs and claimed 155 at the crank and 138 at the rear.
I had a 99 which had 36mm carbs and was Canadian market .
The 98 Yoshie was the slowest , a californian market thingy that had only had 122 at the rear. A Yoshie can and some other bits were added to try and recover some of the lost HP.. There are so many models its hard to follow which is which.
Someone else on here, maybe crasherfromwayback ? would be able to help or correct me ? G.

Knight yep should bolt straight in since all the W models are same, apart from minor tweaks
(http://www.suzukicycles.org/GSX-R-series/GSX-R1100.shtml)

Like roogazza said some of the later model ones (nz new) were very limited with hp, but that was due to the spacers in carbs and header pipes of exhust.

So you should be sweet to get that other motor and bolt her in, if i was you i would do a bit of work to the new motor before droping it it in.

what kinda work? I don't know much about motor tuning etc

Cajun
28th September 2006, 11:45
hahahhaha how much milage is bike you looking at getting done?

knight rider
28th September 2006, 11:48
just getting the motor. it has done 35,000kms

knight rider
28th September 2006, 11:50
the one on this page

Cajun
28th September 2006, 12:03
okay 35,000kms

so this is more of a candian or nz model, so most likley have some 'spacers' or webs in the carbs, or smaller 36mm carbs,

Engine with only 36,000kms is stuff all so just bolt the sucker up and your on your way

knight rider
28th September 2006, 12:13
do I take the spacers out? or just bolt on the old carbs from the 1993 motor? thanks

Cajun
28th September 2006, 12:17
just bolt your carbs up to it.

knight rider
28th September 2006, 12:19
