Of 'Where do i want to go for a ride to' places. - Down the coast road anyway.
From Katikati to Tauranga is ALL double yellow lines now. What's that? 30km of them without an opportunity to pass at all. Pass.
There is that neat road that hugs the kaimais before crossing them - next time.
The coast is as bad as the matamata straights now.
But Waihi to Whangamata is one of my fave bits of road anywhere ;-(
Damn gubmint.

Maaaate - the luck I've had with Rozzas lately - yes.
The other 8 blokes I was riding that stretch with (Pirelli 500 crew) were much the same.

I went down to Tauranga today on SH2 and 27 in the slowest ute ever built...I dunno what it is about people down there, but shit they drive slow, and there was absolutely nowhere to pass, not in that thing anyway...not sure if that's the road you're talking about Dave...?

Cool - and for a good cause
I did the Vegas to Katikati stretch only - and that was by co-incidence.
KR is supporting the event and sent me to get some pics - so I snapped some at Bike force, got a few road shots and then I had another gig at katikati (Photographing some gardens - hey! they pay) so I rode a section and gapped it before the stop.
what were you riding?

Now let me put it to you another way...
How about a cop, on holiday, with his family, and you pass him and a bunch of others cars, one at a time, as you get the safe chance... and he still wants to :buggerd: you
Paranoia can be very justified

Your legally allowed to pass on double yellow lines! And its easy enough on a bike!

Only if you do not cross the double yellows ($150 for passing on double yellows)... and often coast roads that have them are extremely tight, as in, juuuust wide enough for the car.
If you don't cross the double yellows, then the standard, legal, able to pass on right of car within same lane, would apply...

That stretch of road does suck with the yellow lines, no where to pass and slow traffic. It is busy though and even if the lines weren't yellow it is still usually few and far between safe overtaking areas. As it is I still overtake just with extra extreme caution to cages and the :Police: .

90Km/h for about half it too.
There are a couple of passing lanes but they don't do a lot to speed up the flow of traffic.

You have to say that the vast majoity of joe average motorists are fantastic at moving over to let past - but there were 'implements', semi-trailers and assorted campervans that just stopped the flow.

Yes quite right - there are passing lanes now that you make me think about it - but they are short and on the flat bits where it all speeds up anyway - aren't they - I was watching the other bikes a bit.

Thats about it. Coupled with the attitude that a passing lane is really just a short race track (ie I must speed up so I don't get passed) and it defeats the purpose.
The road through Te Aroha and over the Kaimais is much more fun, but it doesn't help much if Katikati is the destination.

Would the charge not be Crossing the yellow line, not passing on double yellows since that is legal?

The road through Te Aroha
Ah yes, thats the one I was alluding to in the first post. Couldn't remember tha name and my good atlas is still on the bike.

Just consider it as lane splitting. Except there's yellows instead of another cage.

Interesting that.
Had an interesting experiment today. Following a bike and a cage that were sitting next to each other in separate lanes. I could read the cage plate clearly, but the bike was unreadable. Closed in to see what the difference in plates was. The mounting angle was the critical factor. Not much, but obviously enough.

was thinking of jsut getting a tow ball and putting that in front of the plate, I mean half the car fleet runs with obscured plate due to that
