Get a ZXR250...
But if you want a good high speed upgrade... try an Aprilla :)

If your itching for more power/speed... try a 2 stoke (Aprilla's are the best I hear) or a Honda NSR 250...
The ZXR's are by far the best for a 4 stroke (In my opinion)... and they hold thier value well (Unless you crash it lol).
Or you could brake the law and buy a 600 anyway and just hope you don't get caught....

mmm 250 2 strokes sound ike a lot of hassle to be honest

if you want more (legal) power then you could get a 2 stroke 250 (NSR, RGV). If its unrestricted itll have the performance of a 600cc 4 stroke anyway...
but yeah I dont imagine you would get much for the GPZ. most CBR's are over priced (but awesome bikes), ZXR's can be picked up for 3-4k which is alright.

What's wrong with the GPX for the next year or so?? They are fine little bikes. If you want faster, then Spada or any of the 4cyls. But in real terms they are not not much quicker. Stay with what you got.
Don't believe me? Go to the Taupo trackday 5.11 and see what Speights_bud does with his GPX.

Well perhaps, but I just moved from zzr250 (2 cylinder) to a cbr250r (inline 4). there is quite a lot of difference in power between these two and I heard that the gpx250 is about the same power as the zzr... depends on how long you have left to go. I personally decided that 10 months is just too long.

Tough little motors...but then any motor will crash & burn if used 'inadvisedly'
If you want a road-legal trailie, try an XR250 or XT250

enduro/ dual purpose, there are lots on trademe, not many under 250cc tho, stick with a gpx and get a purpose built trail bike, rather than one that does a half arse job of each, and stop thrashing your gpx, you will kill it eventually :(

I decided 6months was to long to wait on my zxr250, which is way better than the gpx. So I went out and brought a gsxr600 k5 a yoshi and some ohlins.

mmmmmm that sounds good... but adiddy, if your just working part time and not making a hell of a lot of money then you might as well keep your bike and save for a better one when you get your full. likewise, if youve got the money the go for it!

holy crap...thats quite the upgrade!! I thought you were destined to spend the rest of your life on a 2-fiddy. Respect on the upgrade though, gorgeous bike that must be.
Is suzuki the best of the sixes is it??

as the saying goes...just buy a 400 and dont get caught!
ha ha...i did that a few times, but i must say, the GPX goes ok..and the one i rode was mark auckland/SkidMark's old one
zero index can also testify..get some good exp on it..sounds like your on the right track with having a dirt and road bike though...
Any 250 wont be too fast, the CBR/ZXR-s out there are fast. but almost 15-18 years old now, and way overpriced.
for the price of a 94 CBR with 15,000~km on it you could get a new GS500 or similar...or better, a new GT 250R, which look better than the 90's styling of the areformention 250-4s.
i have seen a GT 250 R with a gutted pipe, and raised rear end, very sexxxy.
The CBR/ZXR market is a bit risky now...i wouldn't touch it.

What is a GPX250? i'd get a VTR250. V-Twin engine is beautiful, fairly fast, decent acceleration. looks like ducati monster. I reckon you could tour on a good one of these.

Nah - adiddy has seen me ride on one of those so he thinks they're really slow. they're bloddy expensive too - even a banged up one will still fetch $5,000.
How much work do you think your GPX will need to keep it on the road for another year? Have you considered getting a brand new GPX?
Why not go to Mount Eden and test ride a GT250R and a GPX - both might surprise you.
