Wasp
6th October 2006, 07:57
yeap just crashed about 30 minutes ago.

just thought you would all like to know that im ok and the bikes not too bad either, it was a low side due to lost traction on a right hand corner because of the wet (and me), bike slid away from me and into the curb where it may have entirly flipped (not sure) and i landed next to it.

Bike is already at tss (cheers guys!).

all i can say is WEAR YOUR FUCKING GEAR! NO IF! NO ANDS ORS OR BUTS! WEAR IT! my shoulder is VERY sore but thanks to the armour in my leathers its probably not dislocated or anything

now... on to the paper work... groan...

honestly though, im laughing my head off!

Awwwwww fuk.

Glad you're OK, sounds like a pretty "entry level" bin. You are, for instance, laughing about it. Did you bash your head? Helmet dinged? [looks horrified] new one?

mmm not like that Drum, if i was dressed like that i'd probably be in intensive care at the moment.

reality is starting to sink in now, i really loved this bike so im starting to feel really emotionally shitty

does anyone know a fair bit about the bandit gsf250? i need to know what options i have in replacing the forks should it get writted off.

afaik (havnt spoken to the bike shop or seen the bike again yet) the list of damaged parts are:

-Forks are bent
-front wheel mud gaurd is snapped in 2 and mounting bracket is damaged
-cycleworks exhaust is dented banged up etc etc, it was actually sepertaed from the pipe the leaves the headers (not sure if that pipe is damaged)
-right hand side plastic panel that runs beneith the seat is scratched but i could live with it how it is (not that its not fixable)
-right hand handle bar is probably bent

so....
cycleworks exhaust $200-$300
new forks $2kish?
front mud gaurd $100ish
right handle bar, $100?

we'll see, we'll see......

crazybigal
6th October 2006, 12:03
fork inner tubes are $445each or $500 each if you buy them from those colmans pirates!
front guard $220-$250 depending on the colour.
bars, who knows but id say 200+ odd
Is the disc bent? if you went down on your left it prob is. thats another $230
who is your insurance company?

6th October 2006, 19:37
Aww shit, sorry to hear that dude. I'm glad you're okay. Are you insured? If not maybe a wrecker like Buckets n Bits might have a donor bike?
I wonder if the forks (which will be the dearest fix) are common to other models? Maybe TSS can tell you, this might open up a few options.

or maybe

I wasn't wearing the back protector, the boots were only 2-3 weeks old the spool leathers were at most 2 months old.

I wouldn't be writing this if had been wearing my old donated shoei and leather jacket, jeans and school shoes

Sorry to hear that Wasp, it's always a risk on two wheels but that's what makes it so interesting!
Glad to hear that you are OK.
You will feel upbeat for a while then you will probably feel down when the high passes, don't let it get you down too far.
You will be back up riding again before you know it. Cheers John

7th October 2006, 21:34
Know what its like dude - just planted my FXR into the front of a Corolla this morning - sprained ankle but thats all - thanks to the leather pants and armoured jacket etc. Can I assume smashed up fairings, bent forks, broken mirrors/lights and numerous other brackets etc will be enough to have it written off considering it aint really worth that much ??

Those forks look seriously munted, it must have been the impact with the curb. Still, it looks like it might be salvageable from what I can see. If the insurance guys want to just write it off you might want to see how much it would cost just to get it roadworthy again, maybe cancelling your claim and spending a few hundred bucks max would get you back on the road and through to full license time? The "cosmetics" could be tackled later on when you feel like it.

What are you pointing at on the road in that picture? Is that where the tyre broke loose?

Wasp
11th October 2006, 21:41
nope, thats where the scratches start ;)

poorbastard
11th October 2006, 23:10
Gutted man. Must have jynxed yourself with the convo the other weekend about not droping it before your full. And to think I had a whole bike of parts a month ago which I sold for bugger all.

Hope you get it sorted soon insurance can be a bitch to deal with.

crazybigal
25th October 2006, 14:48
haha few hundie:rofl:
1 fork inner tube will set you back $450! bandit parts have to come from japan.

If the forks aren't too bad, you can get them pressed at an engineers for around $40, so I've heard. Pretty bike though, shame about it ;)
