View Full Version : Mr Skid down and in 'orspital

Friday night, Carrington Rd. Learner driver turned right into one of the Unitec gates in front of him.

Compound fracture of the right tibea. Leg currently being rebuilt with titanium. He claims this will make him faster. Rhys won't be doing any racing for a while, however.

He was on the XT's replacement - a brand new EMC2 carbon-fibre racing baby which was all set to carry him to glory at the K2 (http://www.arcevents.co.nz/k2cycle/) this year. If you think motorsickles get munted up when they hit cages, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

Rhys has informed me that all offers of sponge baths and blowjobs from sympathetic female members will be accepted graciously. Now's your chance to get him while he can't move, girls.

Mr Skid (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/member.php?u=1223).

Tut tut.

I'd post JPEGs, but I'm stuck up in China again this month. I've only heard from him via various miracles of communications technology, not seen him in person. We were supposed to race that Coro loop event together, you see.

The boys got half the cotton fields wrapping his leg up atm, poor bugger. :(

I tried to hack into the hospital comp system to book him in for extended sponge massages with the fit nurses, but clicked on "Bubba" by mistake. If someone could reverse that into say, Saucy Sally, that would be great.

The food looks good there tho, and he's juice boxes are out in the open!

Oh no! Rhys has crashed his stupid fucking plastic pedal bike....never ride a bike lighter than you,and I've dropped turns heavier than that thing.Better tell him to get well enough to stand up to some pretty severe abuse.

Don't do it again,silly bugger.

Poor Rhys! I went for a ride with him on our pushies last weekend and he was worried about dropping it going around the corners - I told him that it was only on motorbikes that he did that.

And now some tosser in a car takes him out.

I still vaguely remember first meeting him. It was a very wet and rainy coro ride with Motoracer, quasi, Dss3, Bruce, et al. Zapf and Paparrazi came on their first KB ride, they wouldn't have had even 1000km riding experience between them before that day.
Get well soon Rhys.

Took the time to visit Mr Skid tonight.
Poor bugger looks a bit white and washed out, safe to say the drugs where having the desired effect as he appeared 'happy' and devoid of both pain and a few IQ points.
He has a badly broken leg complete with titanium parts and more surgery to come tomorrow morning.
Mr Skid will ride again but not anytime soon.

James Deuce

Glad to hear he is on the mend. Guess he can add "Hey wanna sleep with me, I have a titanium leg!" to his repitoire of pickup lines.

Rhys is making great progress. The hole the bone made, plus the two holes the doctors made, have been closed. No sign of infection, which was the big worry, though the usual green ooze is still spurting from his festering mind. Therefore he's pretty much back to his usual self. He was allowed to put on his own clothes instead of the manus green gown, and will have a go on some crutches today. He also narrowly escaped an enema, so I think the worst is behind him.
Get well soon Mr Skid!

good to see Rhys was in good spirits last night, he even took the time to try and hit on the radiographer when his leg was pointing in funny directions when he was admitted.

good luck with the recovery dude.

Nup. Sidis.

Pa-leeese!

Pearl Izumi's thank you very much!

I'll write a fuller account when I'm back home and not borrowing another patients laptop, hopefully today or Monday, but here's a few small pictures from the experience: a view from my bed, a hot nurse taking my blood pressure, a crumpled/jandaled boik, and some staples in my knee.

Thanks to all my visitors and wellwishers.

Hi Rhys, get well soon mate, from someone who had exactly the same thing happen 12 months ago - just getting ready to get back on the new-look Harley again after $19k spent on repairs and 11 months in and out of hostpital.

Hope you are back up and riding soon!

Crickey Rhys, you sound just like a guy some people were talking about tonight. This guy had recently joined a GIS company and got t-boned on his bike and is in hospital with a broken leg.

What a coincidence. His name is Rhys too.

It's a small world, and Mr Skid gets around.

Given the mention of his employer, I'm curious as to what context you heard his name in, though...

Seriously though, get well soon Rhys, damn bike looks like it got folded in half!It did pretty much.

Front wheel is buckled (funnily enough) the right side of the drop bars has the drop point out to the right, rather than back.

The top tube and down tube have separated from the head tube, and there is a crush in the top tube about 1/3 from the seat tube.

In short, farked.

Nothing that can't be repaired with some hose clamps, KenAd It (Knead It), ice block sticks and string. It'd probably have less flex than a Honda after that.

Oh, did I mention, I think it was a Honda that took me out?
Oh, the injustice of it all!
