I have a few pairs of gloves which are QUASiMOTO Brand (obviously) which I want to give away to those most deserving on KB.

Here is the deal, post a pic of your gloves or tell us your best SOB story as well as why they are in need of replacement along with your size and in a few days I will decide (as best as I can) who gets em.

Cheers

Crashed. Hurt Gloves. Hand trapped under bar end.

Won't post a pic because my gloves held up really well and don't need replacing.

Put them in a plastic bag over night. They're anerobic bacteria so they'll go mad an consume themselves.

Unless Mark (skidMark) has purchased new gloves he would be the most eligable for a new pair of gloves. The last time I saw him he had gloves with holes in nearly every finger tip.

Despite standing up very well my last pair of gloves (well the one I use anyway!) I bought off you were destroyed in my highside crash a couple of weeks ago at the track. Now that I have to rebuild my bike I simply can not afford the money for gloves in this depressed economy, so whilst my bike will be mint alas I will not be able to ride it until I can afford some more protection.....

Nah I can afford it, give them to someone without the proper gear already.

My dad doesn't have any gloves at all, so does that make him most elible?
plus I've bought gear from you

hey just on a side note, what sort of kiwibiker discount can you do on a pair of boots and pants, i'll be looking at buying a pair of each after uni is finished, and by when uni finishes, i mean after I sell my GPX...

I nominate Wasp to have a new pair of gloves. Not sure if he stuffed his in his off a few days ago, but it might cheer him up about the rest of the carnage.

Hi. my entry goes like this... am a solo parent on the benefit & Polytech student studying Counselling. Bike had a major meltdown last Oct.. blew the CDI & regulator rectifier..(?) & all the bulbs, the dials (except spedo) took forever to find second hand parts & am now paying off a $900 bill to my wonderful mechanic.. @ $10 pw! My bike is my passion & major stress outlet..!!! & I was without it for 10 months.. nearly went round the ferkin twist!!! only recently got it on the road again!! My gear is all old & all second hand, but I look after it & make it do! Am also going to put a thread on here looking for any cheap gear someone might have stored away in the back of their wardrobe, to fit my 10 1/2 year old son.. as he loves coming with me & it's so lovely to be able to take him out & share our passion together.. but it shits me taking him out in jeans & an old helmet from a garage sale...!! He first came on the road with me on the bike when he was 5!! Would dearly love a 'new' & decent pair of gloves... Size small: thanks.

You've probably read my story (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showpost.php?p=764614&postcount=32).
A decent pair of QUASiMOTO gloves may have prevented this broken knuckle joint, and I'd still be able to defend my placing at next weekends Taupo races.

But if you give one glove to OAB, can I have the other one to protect my busted left hand?

Hello There Quasievil

i will be getting my first bike soon, and have so far bought my helmet and jacket so am desperatley in need of gloves. i'm a little short on the money atm you see and every penny i currently have is going into the bike. i'm not currently broke, but i am severley bent. my new wife and i recently got married for the rice! sorry getting off topic, you see i'm so broke i can't afford to pay attention A jacket would be really helpful to me to prevent any serious injuries for when i start riding, without me around who would remind the kids to eat there cereal with forks - milk is very expensive these days and we have to save all the money for my bike oh well have to run sorry, i have a WINZ appointment and after that have to go pay some more of the shake i have on layaway at McD's

Believe i would be a size M

I was going to nominate Xerxesdaphat, who binned on the 250 ride yesterday - his first KB ride. He's posted above.

Turned up on a old 250, wearing shirt, jeans, sneakers, leather jacket, helmet, NO gloves. A young quietly spoken South African/Zimbabwean(?) student, using his Dad's old cellphone to save money- I think would have bought the right gear if the money was more readily available. Seemed a sensible chap with good attitude. Hurt his hands in the bin so now knows the value of protective gear!

I think some form of encouragement from the KB community/Quasi would be nice!!

did you split those in a bin, or did that just happen, as with mine the finger tips feel well lets say fragile, like they will be the first things to surcumb to 'wear and tear'

i don't 'sort' mail with them on.. i only deliver it with them on (pulling one letter out of an elastic banded group of letters) and no, the next pair of gloves I get will only be used 'properly' not for post..

Yes... now mum has seen what I look like she says she has an early christmas present lined up in the way of some nice gear that will have me bouncing off the tarmac rather than crumpling and tearing ^_^.

For the record... I'm neither South African or Zimbabwean hahaha. I'm actually an ex-North Shore chap, I've just been overseas for a few years. People can't pick my accent anymore lol.

Yeah I know about gear now. I mean I knew it was good stuff to have, but I suppose after seeing all those natty scooter lads wearing Armani whizzing around the city I thought that I wouldn't necessarily need racing leathers just yet. Lesson learned :-/ .

Okay Guys n Girls

After a really hard think about it (really)

Ive decided to award a new free pair of gloves to the following.

1/ Yungatart ..cause he wanted winter gloves and I have some of them in the box

2/ Racey Rider... Cause his post was a good graphic display of why gloves should be worn and it looks painful as hell.

3/ Xerxesdaphat.... Cause he sounds like he needs a hand into getting some gear.

4/ MyGSXF , pms sent

I hope I have your sizes in my box of old stock, but if you can let me know via PM your size and address I will send them out to you.

To all the others Im sorry I cant give stuff away to you all, but from time to time I will do this again, In the meantime to those who posted in this thread
Prior to this post I can offer you a 10% discount , which makes gloves around $80.

So thanks guys n Girls, send me your addy's

I... um... dont' know quite what to say. The people on this forum are simply the most generous wonderful people I've met anywhere. I've already told Mr Quasievil that I'm going to get some stickers of his logo printed up and will stick them around uni. Will also try and convince all the natty mod-style scooter chaps to ditch the Ralph Lauren in favour of Quasimoto ^_^.

After first of all wondering who would be mad enough to give away expensive gear like that for free from a business (witness my boss who is reluctant to supply tea and coffee to his employees, lest he lose a couple of dollars), I now am beginning to understand both the obvious generous moral reasons (bikers don't like other bikers in hospital); but also I'd say he now has a firm and long-term customer, at least when I graduate and start commanding six-figure salaries! Hahaha.

You, sir, are one of kings among men -- along with Mr GIJoe.

Thank-you,

-Tom

P.S. bike doesn't need no electric starter! Pffft. Electrics are for the weak :P. What it needs is my uncle on the weekend to tune it in so it stops eating sparkplugs. Whenever I give it a new sparkplug it starts first kick... for a day lol. Heheh. Who ever wanted an easy ride? Besides, all the bump starting is better than a gym membership for my puny body...

Yeah... so um I PMed Quasi about the gloves, gave address, sizes etc etc. I also mentioned that he was a very generous guy to give out gloves like that and so on; I also mentioned that as a result of his generosity I'd look at his store first when I went to buy the waterproof jacket and trousers I need for commuting to the CBD and back to Manukau every day.

So I get a PM back from Quasi... `what size jacket are you?'. I replied with my size, not thinking anything of it.

I get another PM back saying `what size pants are you?'. I reply with that too... but I'm starting to get more than a little worried, so I ask him why does he want to know that?

He says something to the effect of `never mind', and I tell him don't be silly, are you doing what I'm think you're doing? Because I don't deserve this...

I get a knock on the door on Thursday morning. There's a courier with a large box for me. I sign for it, put it inside my room, ignore it, go upstairs and have breakfast. When I come back down, it's still there, it wasn't a figment of my imagination. I open it up; inside is 1xCordura waterproof jacket, with shoulder/back protection; 1xCordura waterproof trousers, with knee protection; but not just those things! There is also 1xBack protector, which looks like it could stop bullets -- and also a pair of leather trousers! Leather trousers! Holy shit there's like a whole cow's worth of leather in these things... I could take them off and belt service station attendants around the head for free petrol... my god.

So I was seriously shocked, and still am. I can't believe that... I mean all this gear is probably worth about as much as my bike is... it is just so unbelievable generous to do that. It's made a huge difference... I was about to take out a personal loan to buy the gear I needed (after binning I realised how important it is) and the fact I don't have to do that now (and end up paying twice that in interest) is a massive difference for a student. I liked what Quasi said in a PM... paraphrased slightly... but he said something like `I hate it when people love bikes, but can't afford decent gear. I'm in a position to do something about that'.

The funniest thing was that there were actually no gloves in the box hahaha. But now I have the financial freedom by not planning XX% of income towards gear, I can probably buy some gloves and perhaps boots without going into too much debt. Guess which shop I'm going to get them from?

Thanks... still lost for coherence, really...

Hi Tom,
Looks like things have turned out very well for you, and while you're enjoying your new gear, I'm sure Quasi has enjoyed helping out a new and fellow biker! This is all GOOD.

I got the impression that you're a guy with a bright future and I'm sure you'll realise that all this gear will not protect you if you have the wrong type of accident. We all have a vested interest in your future, so ride right and ride safe and enjoy many years of biking! ( How's that for pressure?? )

I liked what Quasi said in a PM... paraphrased slightly... but he said something like `I hate it when people love bikes, but can't afford decent gear. I'm in a position to do something about that'.

Quasi, if I could bling you more I would! I'm sure that the pleasure that you get from being able to help someone worthy, and from getting yourself into the position where you are able to do so, are more than enough reward. Thank you. :2thumbsup
