Skaife knocked out in the first 30 seconds.
Once again, the safety car was out more than it was in.

I missed the last hour coz the fuggin power went off. Again!!!!
And this morning I read on teletext that Mark Porter passed away.

Everything you have mentioned in your post is GOOD, GOOD, GOOD
Scaife out, Ford Wins ( and no just about it, a win is a win! :))
Except for your power going off and it is very sad news about Mark Porter :(

At least NASCAR has funny names and funny/stupid commentary. Dick Trickle and all them thar 'Jnrs'.
Keeps me interested for as much as 45 seconds of a 3 hour race.

Quite an astounding day all in all.

Brocky memorial trophy awarded for the first time
Skaife taken out so early,
Huge accident/fatality before the race even started.

As a side note - did anyone see the program covering the development of the new holden (on Prime) yesterday afternoon. That was amasing too

As an owner of several 'Blue Oval' products it warmed the cockles of my heart to see the finish at Bathhurst with several of said products at the front.

Holdens Achilles heel seemed to be handling, not driver error or driveline failure, I guess they're going to have to take a hard look at steering/shocks etc.

Oh, and a 'just' win is still a WIN eh?:2thumbsup

How close was it at the end?...I saw 6 secs with >10laps to go.

I know that its about the cars, I have been a big fan in the past, but would be damned exciting if it were bikes out there (despite track safety issues).

Yeah, good program. They have a Holden Channel now on Sky (Channel 500) with that same program.

Gutted to see the Brock trophy won by Ford (although it is Lowndes), and to see HRT out so soon - but a good race to watch as usual.

They are merely cages, equally as worthless as each other. On a more important note, Honda won the supersport series this year!

Yeah Steve Richards came 5th (Jack Daniels Car), He's been my favourite for years, started by the fact that his name is so close to mine S.Richards, and his brother was my brother's favourite J.Richards, for the same reason. While my youngest brother always went for the Kmart car (Greg Murphy). Great to see the support for Peter Brock, can't say that I'm such a bathurst nut to know who Mark Porter was, missed the start. Sad news all the same.

Great to see the support for Peter Brock
It was touching to see the entire track standing and silent. That is a rare event, as there is always something happening around the circuit.
Also it takes a damn long time to walk all the way around. There would have been very large numbers there because of Brocky.
A few moist eyes yesterday.

Edit: Seems like all teams were hobbled with the dodgy dunlop tyres... OR was it "as the manufacturer claims..." track debris... Tui anyone?

You aren't serious are you?

They hobbled the Holdens handling for fear of loosing the spectator support cause it just to be a question of Holden was going to win.

There was no Fords or Holdens racing, just different teams with different body shells. The best team on the day won.

Of course a healthy dollop of bad luck will upset the best of teams plans - but that's racing.

I felt sick when I saw Radisich's crash - shows the HANS device is a life saver - cant imagine anyone surviving that type of impact without it...

"Cole, you're wandering all over the track!"

"Yeah, well this son of a bitch just slammed into me!"

"No, no, he didn't slam you, he didn't bump you, he didn't nudge you... he *rubbed* you. And rubbin, son, is racin'."

Yes stayed pretty close to the TV for the whole thing. Didnt find it very riviting.. tho I did enjoy to see a Ford out in front at the end.
Bring on MotoGP I say. M/bike racing is way more interesting.

Bathurst is always a buzz, simply because the track is so awesome but I've pretty much given up on V8 Supercars.

I've lost touch with the rules but it's kinda ridiculous when they call it a "production based" class and you can't even buy a 5 litre V8 from either manufacturer, Ford (Aust) don't offer a pushrod V8 in the Falcon range and the Holden V8 has long since been put to bed.

I'd prefer to see a series that was truly more production based and offerred a greater variety of manufacturers and configurations, kinda like the old Group A days. It was more interesting with differences in power, handling, reliability, braking, weight etc between the different models.

Now it's all about who can afford the best shock dyno or computer camshaft simulation.

You can tell the series is bereft of legitimate excitement by the introduction of reverse grids and compulsory pitstops to try and introduce some passing. Even the use of the safety car is partly designed to bunch fields and artificially generate close racing.
