Anyone know where one could purchase an ignition coil (locally, i.e. in NZ) for a 1951 BSA Golden Flash and have any idea what these may cost?

1951 should be a magneto,in which case it's part of the mag and will need a rewind. If it has a dist it will just be a Lucas dist and a standard 6 volt coil will do.

51 A10 will definately be magneto. (Unless someone's done some sort of hack, and I don't think I'd care to rely on the mercy of the DC dynamo for spark). Very good, very reliable magneto, if its the Lucas K2F.
It may not be / just be the coil winding. The magnets could have lost their magnetey goodness and need to be rematnetyisified .
And of course check the slip rings and the pickupses
EDIT One assumes that teh fibre gear hasn't doine the fibre gear thing and stripped its teethes
