Hi there,

I am in this forum since Saturday and just love it! You guys are all great, funny and helpful! Thanks a lot already!
I have my learner licence since exactly one week and all what I need now is a motorbike :-)
So if anyone is interested to cruise with a VERY new and VERY unexperienced learner around you are more than welcome to let me know
Alright I wish you all a great evening

Matt: Cool! Do you make soon your restricted one? What kind of motorbike do you have?
Do you live in Wellington?

Boomer: (laugh) no but he said he knows you. But maybe I was wrong...!??

No I live in Palmerston North. Wellington is a regular trip for me though. It has been every weekend for a while now. Really nice roads to and from there. I haven't really thought about my restricted yet. I ride a Honda CBR 250!

I just read your profile. Are you down on this coming weekend? I canīt wait to get my own bike and I really hope now that I will find one this week. Start already to get grumpy because I just want to practice and learn and not search for one. But I am getting there. I like the Hondas CBR. But anyway in case I get hopefully this week one and you are in Wellington and are bored you are more than welcome to pop over and go for a little drive (but warning: I just rode 3 times in my life before a motorbike which means I will start very easy and not in a big traffic...)

Welcome to our world Sphinx.

There are plenty of friendly Wellingtonian KBers who i'm sure would be more than happy to help you in your cruise request.

Have fun and be careful out there, and that includes staying well clear of that dodgy Boomer character!

Welcome aboard the site Sphinx. There is quite a few new riders in the wgtn area so you shouldnt have a problem gettin someone to ride with at your level. But you better get a bike first - have you taken any for a test ride?

Sphinx

another learner starting out with a good attitude

Do you know anyone with a bike you can learn on?
Suggest you go and see the guys at the bikes shops and see if they will let you try out the demonstration bikes.

Best thing to do is start out with a $$ in mind and go from there.

A good ole GN250, humble as it is, has started a lot of folks off on the right footing. If you are a little taller, a 200 / 250 trail bike is a good choice as resale value is always good on them.

Look for learner rides and don't be scared of fronting up to general rides. If you are unsure, one of the responsible people on here (you will have to figure out who is and who is NOT yourself) would usually be only too happy to help you get started. The WIMA have a go days were always fun.

Look after yourself and don't get carried away by the hype.

Have fun!!

Yes indeed, hello Steffi and another welcome from myself and Lynda. We are both keen bikers. We live in Upper Hutt. Lyn has her full licence but now prefers to ride pillion with me. We came to NZ in January 2004. We are always out and about on the bike on good weekends. We tend to take it easy being two-up, so once you are kitted out with a bike you are more than welcome to tag along. We used to tour France a lot before coming here and I have also ridden the Nurburgring - a frightening experience considering I was overtaken by a van!! We have just acquired a CB1300 which is still being run in... another reason to take it steady. Catchya.

Hello Ceebie thanks a lot thats very nice of you! I would love to catch up once I feel more "set up" and secure on my motorbike (which I still donīt have but HOPEFULLY very very soon!). I add you to my buddies and will contact you again when I think I would be ready for a trip okay?
So did you like Germany? (I know except the strange people :-) ) Hah overtook by a van - why not!
Are you from NZ??
