A mate replaced his exhaust and computer and offered me the back half of his original exhaust for a box of Cody's, and the guy at Kelston pitstop made me a joining pipe about 150mm long for $20.
Real noticeable difference. Deeper sound. Quieter under 4 grand and a little mellower. Have to grab a bigger handfull to get the same acceleration and it hauls smoothly from as low as 3 grand. But wide open above 5 grand is way better.
What I have noticed is the muffler and pipe leading to it get really freaken hot (compared to my original big black megaphone). I am assuming that it is because it is thin walled stainless.
But I keep wondering about the cat converter at the start of the muffler. Is there any issues with running a carburetted bike with a cat in the muff. I would have thought that maybe it might clog up the converter eventually if it was running really rich.
Any thoughts? Comments?
